In my opinion, all shrooms are different and have their own spirit. Cube is not a cube, sclerotia is not a sclerotia. You should try it yourself and draw your own conclusions. Other people's conclusions and other people's experiences are often not applicable for yourself, and you need to gain your own personal experience. Each person perceives a trip differently and evaluates it based on different aspects. It's more important to find your own mushroom that suits your own criteria. The mushroom that, in your own opinion, is most beneficial for you.

Are you doing anything special with your gallon jars as far as GE?
When I prepared the lids for this jar, I drilled 5 holes with a 6mm drill into the lid. Looks like the number 5 on a dice.
Also I know that most people don't like micropore tape for lids but in this particular case I used 4 layers of micropore tape before PCing the jar. Just make sure to wrap the lid in aluminum foil before PCing. (Remove the aluminum foil just before you inoculate.)
Other than these quite big 5 holes I do nothing with this jar as far as GE goes.

Awesome explanation, thanks!
I have some lids I can modify with a few extra GE holes and I'll give it a try once I get an LC working.

The other day I had the idea of knocking up a half gallon of LC with Alt 7.
Anyone ever let one of these go for a couple of months without stirring to see what you get?
Thought it would definitely be easier to clean if it worked.

Iβve had atl#7 lc pin multiple times over the years. After a couple months without stirring.
Even more so with potatoe dextrose media

Have taken around twenty tissue samples from five or so separate fruits or clusters of fruit over the last week. All from a nicely fruiting ATL 7 MS tub. Splitting the fruits and scraping the inside gently seemed to work the best for me.
Said tub.

Hopefully I'll be posting some canopy pictures beginning of next year!

I e had very thin small sclerotia form just above the liquid level in the mycelium on the glass.
But never anything significant. Like thick paper thin type shit

These are atl 7 agar to wbs innoc'd 10/29. Are these good or bacterial like I was told?

Looks off to me. There is definitely some growth that looks good but also some weak gray growth in between. Maybe on the second picture the jar on the right looks acceptable, but i guess the first picture shows their backsides which is fucked.

Pulled a single fruit with a decent sized stone attached to it and cloned it. I'm hoping it will both stone well invotro and then produce a decent canopy if I spawn it.
Excited to see what it does. I probably pulled fifty fruits from the first flush before seeing a stone pop out.

They're 4 separate jars actually, sorry if that wasn't clear. Thanks for the info, I'll be sure to consider them goners

Well, they aren't done colonizing. So if you're patient, you could let them go a bit more. Then if you want to risk it, open a given jar and smell it. They'd smell strongly of cucumbers, without anything rancid.
Mycolorado makes a good point that what I'm suggesting here might lead you the wrong way. I think I meant to emphasize that you should wait for them to colonize more, and then at spawn (if you do that), you could smell their cucumber-ness. Apologies

I agree, wait for them to finish colonizing and smell them. Meanwhile, you can start new cultures on agar and make sure they are clean.

If youβre growing for stones just leave them be. If youβre trying for fruit just spawn them when theyβre fully colonized. These guys have you believing your jars are completely fucked which I donβt believe to be the case. There is zero reason to open them to smell them.
