Damn! That's awesome. I still have a huge flower pot with "Mex. A" and grass over it. I check it every couple of days but... peanuts! - at least now I know I'll have more stones at the end of Summer.

I was surprised as well but both mexi and subtropicalis weren't too bothered. I have a feeling the temps may have contributed to extra short fruit but it could just be the phenotypes I ended up with.

Mexi seems to be enjoying the new outdoor set up. Dropped down to 12ยฐC last night

Think I'll print some more of the remains of first flush.

Update on the half sand tub.

It is not super obvious from this spaghetti picture, but there are only a few mushrooms that came up in the lower left corner of the non-sand side. All of the rest are coming from the side that had a thin layer of sand added before the casing layer. This is the second flush, the first did the same. So the layer of sand significantly improved the fruiting on this tub.

However, the total yield was not as good with the thin layer of sand when compared to mixing sand in the casing layer. So that will be the next test. A layer of sand before the casing in half and sand mixed casing in the other half. I like these half & half tub tests because it seems to eliminate a lot of the possible variables in small scale experiments.

Either way, it seems that sand is good for casing tamps. Not required, but I get noticeably better results with sand.

I am thinking I should probably collect all of these sand experiments into a single thread eventually.

Nicely shaped little cluster growing in one of my Rancho tubs. This is the large-fruited phenotype:

And at the other end of the same tub, a blobby looking thing growing on top of one of the stones:

lol you might have missed the two pics below I posted the other day. I plucked these off of a stone, and my second pic in my previous post is what is now growing off that same stone. It's definitely different from these, though maybe it will mature into these.

Oh I did clone it. Cloned and swabbed it. The swabs have already germinated and I took T1s from the 3 swabbed plates today. Took a T1 from the clone too. Both should be clean enough to go to grain with when they are grown out in a week or so. Will see what happens. Also curious about the potency of it.

Thanks to SirPsycho, I'm looking forward to working with my first stone producer :dancer: I was looking through an older thread by SunStone that recommends using a 50%/50% H2O/coffee mixture.. I this outdated information or is this still the recommended way to prep your grain?

Hey Adas, that plate pin looks sick and looks pretty distinct from the ones I've personally gotten.  Not sure if it's the light but it looks almost leucistic or albino.

I know youโ€™re asking psycho but the coffee is unnecessary. Regular grain prep that works for cubes works well for stone producers
