That's crazy man! Lol I can totally picture it, how things looked and felt fake. It's a good feeling though when everything comes back to "normal". Sometimes I would remind myself that it's just the drug and everything is going to be ok.

I'm thinking about switching grains. I have a few qts worth of oats left and then I need a new bag. I'm wanting something easier than oats to clean off truffles, recommendations?
Might make up some agar and lc today after I finish cleaning the house.

The smaller the grain, the better, in terms of breaking up the grain for stones.

So probably millet or milo then? It's gonna be weird switchin grain cause I have my oat prep on point. I guess it will really depend on how much more expensive millet or milo is cause I can get a 50lb bag of oats for $6.
Hopefully I can get some jars ready to harvest while the leaves are still changing colors, although I do have 100g fresh in the fridge and 2 more hiatus jars to harvest but that won't last long if I start trippin as often as I use to lol.

Tampanensis at 2 months.
I was always told to let stones go for 3 months. Thoughts?

I'd spawn the stones and all to a tub or tray(s) and let the stones grow in the substrate as well. Stones get bigger with ample water supply.

Sorghum (milo) is amazingly easy to clean off sclerotia. It just falls off.

Hey Mr. Mold. lol, I know this is a reply to a semi older post, but I was wondering, do you case with coir between flushes? I am beginning to think casing between flushes is a good idea most of the time. Even if it is only a dusting.

I had to scrap my stone cultures before my move.
Just started up some alt7 last week and did a T1 transfer yesterday. If it looks good I am going to put some to LC and then inoculate a 2 qt bag. My plan is to harvest early, like 1.5-2 months, and clone the largest stone and try to fruit the rest.
Excited to get these guys going again. My last stone culture was var galindoi MS and it produced the standard ~125g per quart but they were so tiny and such a bitch to clean (I am neurotic and clean them really well) that I had like 10 quarts to harvest that were 8-10 months old...I am hoping that larger stones frm alt7 will make things easier

Alright, this is what I have learned. Galindoi is Tampanesis. Which is not Jalisco, which gives tiny fruits and small stones. I will try to find the place where I read from the mycologist who made the determination. Atl #7 , which was called Galindoi, has now been correctly identified as Tampanesis. In the last month. I actually ordered a culture today and the place sells tamp and jalisco, so, let's hope that the ones that come in the mail are the correct sample.

From my experience with Jalisco, it makes tiny stones but larger and different looking caps than tamps. That was Alan Rockefeller that recently did the sequencing to separate out tampanansis and mexicana into their own species.

It's more confusing than that.
Galindoi is mexicana. There was a mushroom found in Mexico that was thought to be different than mexicana and was named galindoi. That variety exists, and is the original galindoi, but it is actually mexicana.
But the galindoi that we are all growing (atl7) isnt galindoi at all, its tampanesis.

You should go back a couple pages and try to find the link, the species just got updated a week or so ago Sivarted.
Currently Mexicana and Tampanensis are considered 2 different species, according to Alan Rockafeller.
Galindoi, ATL7 and Tampanesis are ss of Tampanensis now. Jalisco and A strain are SS of Mexicana
Or maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're saying.

Didn’t know Alt7 and Galindoi were Tamps now. I always thought ramps were just a variety/subspecies.
I’ll have to update my trade list with the proper species and strain
