If all you can get is oats, they'll serve they're purpose well.

Until my guy gets a bag of sorghum in,  I'll be rocking oats.

Stamets says RGS is best for stones in his book,  I think.  I wouldn't think so personally. I haven't seen many people use it for stones though.

I've always used oats with good results.  The hulls are a little bit of a nuisance,  but I don't mind the little bit of work it takes to just pick it out.  Rye is good too.

OTTO recently mentioned sorghum being a superior grain for sclerotia production.

Do you use agar yet? That's a good way to start from prints,  and will stretch them a long way. With agar you can make lc, or go wedge to grain.

Violet and Stonesun both have comprehensive sclerotia teks.

Looks good for a month.  What kind of filter did you use on your jar.

You can grow it on brf, but yields might be lighter.  Don't forget about the verm,  munching on verm is like eggshells...to me at least.  Maybe keep the mix as loose and airy as possible,  and don't handle so much it packs down.  I never ate the ones I grew on brf.

Prints do good on foil.  The spores stick well and come off pretty easy.  Store your prints in a baggie to help prevent contams.  Paper prints can work,  but will most likely need to be started on agar.  I'm not sure what process you did to make paper prints.

Edit: :whathesaid:

Yeah,  but some hunters might print on paper to see the spores. I probably wouldn't trade them without discussing with the other person though.

I just took a decent sized stone and snapped it in half,  then took my tissue sample.  The plate grew out clean.
