During Incubation: opens or closed holes?
    #2250470 - 01/18/04 12:42 PM (20 years, 2 months ago)

Hey everyone, my question today is about the 4 holes
you create while you inoculate (with PF-Tek) the jars...
After the spores went in the substrate, what would you advise
to do? Cover the jars with another "undamaged" foil or just leave
those little holes opened? :print:
I was wondering about that 'cause I don't think there can be
a lot of CO2 exchange if the jars are almost completely sealed.
:mushroom2:
Anyway, I tried to leave only 2 aluminium foil with the opened holes
over 2 jars, I'll see if the mycelium growth will increase or
something.

I like to cover the holes with tape until I see myc growing. Then I take it off. There is no CO2 transfer if there is no myc to make it. Why loose moisture from your substrate untill there is myc growing?

Seems to have worked.

You could but its not absolutly nessasary. The dry vermalite on top keeps most contams out but yea if you want to keep mosture in until you see some growth it could be a good thing to do. Its really up to you. Either way works.

Penalties against drug use should not be more damaging to an individual than the use of the drug itself. Nowhere is this more clear than in the laws against the possession of marijuana and mushrooms in private for personal use.

Afoaf left the tape off her jars since day one and there
is still moisture inside the jars and no contams. All jars
doing well and it's just about time to flip some over.
Jars in tub-in-tub at about 83 degrees.
