I have had more than one successful battle with pests using straight Rosemary Oil in some water in a spraybottle...
Smells way better than neem

I'm going to give it another week ... (then I'll take some pictures) but basically what is happening is the new growth are increasingly narrow leaves and they are starting to develop sort of curled ends. The growth is somewhat paler green but no sign of white or purple as yet.

Doing alright. The newer set of leaves are getting bigger but she looks a little off. Maybe transplant shock.

It has been almost 3 weeks and the cutting I took still shows no signs of roots. No signs of rot either and even some of the newer growth has kind of grown a little. Weird little thing.
I put it into my garden room, hopefully the higher temperatures will kick it into gear. I hope it can take off, because it will be the first cutting I took back home. And it will also be a permanent resident in my garden room. Maybe it's hesitant because it knows I'm going to do horrible experiments on it with fertilizers and lights as well as soils.

Just going to copy and paste this from my garden thread I started recently:
I realized a day or two ago that one of my salvias was starting to flower, today I noticed that a second one is too

3 or 4 buds are forming on this plant alone

And here one is starting to form on one of my bigger plants:

I will take better pics as things progress.

Oggy said: What do you guys use to treat pests for your Salvia plants? I would like to know in case I ever have an outbreak. Next spring I want to put some cuttings out in my garden, so when they come back in for winter they will probably need to be treated.
I've used a homemade pepper spray recently with success. Some bugs were eating the leaves (outside), gave it a solid dousing with the pepper spray, no more issues.

Neem, pest repelling plants, manual removal, diatamaceus earth. Never on my salvia though. Pests leave her alone.

Nope. Not even white flies. I have aphids but they stick to my datura and euphorbia. Spider mites come and go on others and some minor thrip problems on another datura. And i have those little silver soil critters in some moist pots. But nothing on the Salvia . Try the things I mentioned above and you should be ok.

I have used neem and some others in the past to combat outbreaks with good results. What I found worked best was a combo of removing the leaves with the heaviest infections, spraying the plant down thoroughly with water and then neem water, and then rubbing off any stragglers on the rest of the leaves. Takes a fair amount of work to combat a bad outbreak though.
I will have to start spraying some preventative neem to be safe, pretty sure there are some white flies in my greenhouse already and I have some tobacco I want to move in that has white flies real bad. I may just let them die though since I harvested seed from em and can just re plant them next spring. Having overwintered plants to put in the ground is nice though.
Your lucky, I need a datura if they attract pests hawaii baby woodrose seems to be an exotic delicacy to the local bugs here...

Keep in mind that neem is ineffective after 36 hours and must be mixed again. Not sure why, but that's what I've read. I noticed that a week old mix didn't do anything but a new mix killed aphids.

I'm becoming more convinced my salvias are trying to put out flower buds.
Does anyone know if providing fertilizer (and if so what nutrient profile) is a good idea at this time?
When my orchids are preparing to spike or are producing flower spikes there are fertilizers that are specific to blooming that can be added (I sometimes do other times I just let them manage... because I don't try to produce show orchids or anything like that).
So... fertilizer? Any particular type?
