Casing Mycobags
    #2251350 - 01/18/04 08:29 PM (20 years, 2 months ago)

Say my 3-toed sloth had a fully colonized mycobag. He's wanting to get as much outta it as possible. He's a little worried about casing it cause he's new. But what if he crumbled the mycellium brick inside teh bag and layed it on it's side? Would that do, or are more drastic measures required? I've been checking out the casing FAQ on here, so I know what's involved, I was just wondering if there might be a short cut?

break it up. dump it out. case it with coco coir. incubate for another 2-3 days, then place in fruiting chamber.

that or use yer bag to spawn straw/poo, but that sounds like more trouble than you are looking for.

I'm not sure what you mean by crumbling and laying on it's side. if you did that how would it get the 02 and humidity needed for pins to form? I have never heard of an invitro bag method, but I'm sure it's possible. However, if you want to maximize your yeild it is HIGHLY adviseable to case.

yeh thats what I was thinking too, like oxidized copper, weird...

has anyone else seen this?

So casing a colonized brick of the mycobag stuff would increase its yeild? Cause my friend's got one and it will be a couple weeks before it is fully colonized, but if the casing will make it yield more he will try it.

I would lay it flat to make a flat cake and let it fully colinize like that and then case as a flat cake when you crumble that takes nutrients to heal back together and thus reduces the flushes its not by alot but enough not to do it if not necesary

well right now the bag is standing straight and has colonized into a brick.. or so I'm told. Can it still be layed flat?

if its allready fully colinized or close just wait til it is and crumble and case. See I make WBS bags and when they are like 50% I make a flat cake inside the bag and let it colinize like that until its 100% and case and fruit it as a flat cake

You can case mycobags... bags are so simple it makes casing seem hard. just make sure you have your water level right and only put 1/4 inch on top... and you have a casing.

It is easy as cake... literally.

That said, I have been impressed by the flushes I've seen from inside the bags as well.

It is possible to fuck up a casing but it is harder to fuck one up than you might think.
