So w strains like PE, and KSSS one shouldn't put the med poly in at spawning? U should still cover holes w these strains due to them tending to blob out?

These straw bottles enjoy a casing put some coir, verm or just verm or whatever you like on then fruit like normal. You'll have to dial in your own tub accordingly

How much LI is a good dose for each of these again?

So I might give a few of these a go tommorow. My straw block got pretty wet before I got it in the garage though, I notice that you said you have to account for that, could someone elaborate on how much I should alter my moisture content?

oh don't worry I'll forget about them and then get high and lose them, then fruit them so they'll be nice and consolidated.

my last oat grain jars didn't colonize coir. they were sitting room temperature fully colonized for a few months and when I spawned them they didn't recover at all. that's neglect

Maybe I'm confused it sounds like... I've Ben reading a lot lately putting all the pieces together..

So with strains like PE and KS, sounds like u wanna let ur jars consolidate a bit. Before u spawn them to bulk..? Or in this case before u spawn to ur straw bottle?

I thought I had read w monos of PE and KS u wanna do the same thing. Let em consolidate before u initiate fruiting... sorry for the off topic post.

I am digging this method btw way OP, I'm thinking this is how I may start rockin my hericiums. I have yet to fruit any out and i think this method will limit me less

I haven't used those varieties but I don't think so.

The mycellium of any cube is going to have approximately the same behavior.  No need to consolidate grain jars before spawning.  Azur has about the best PE of anyone, and he spawns it in fruiting conditions (see thread.)  Generally people suggest using a casing with PE.  Higher FAE may also be of benefit, which makes a casing more useful for maintaining surface humidity.

--------------------

I spawned some popcorn casings and had double-overlay cause I didn't put enough hydrogen peroxide in my automated aquarium mister.  I only got one mushroom so I cut off the head part where the seeds fall from and put it in a jar of LC and sprayed it all over a tin of PF cakes I made with gravel, cardboard, and bisquick in my microwave.  I think it will be good cause B+ is so potent.
Triggered yet?

Only a square would say "a cube is a cube."

If u go above a few posts, u will see my original quote from pasty white.

This is why I'm asking. I'm sure I've read about this being done w these strains not to mention PW just mentioned it in this thread on pg11 in regards to bodhis EnvySS jars

For two yrs I was working w KS not KSSS. Those blobs threw me through soo many loops not knowing what was going on lol... I learned soo much thanks to those blobs confusing the shit outta me. Never did figure out why they did that myself.. learned to love that strain tho for its awesome potency.

High nutritional BRF jars, since I used brf in my bottles, should consolidate

I don't think that was related to the variety used, but I could be wrong.  Maybe the mycellium takes some time to dig into the flour or digest the straw.  Same concept as consolidating PF cakes.  We're only talking about like 1/8 cup of flour per quart of substrate, there must be a good amount of nutes being extracted from the straw.

I see ok I'm wrong lol. Makes sense,  thank u bodhi.

Now I wonder why I've read this before in diff threads about these strains. I'll have try and find the threads. Maybe it's old info I dunno? I think it was PW saying it in a diff thread. I may be mistaken tho so don't quote me on that

People used to think that consolidation could help produce more even flushes with high nutrient substrates. Most people don't bother to consolidate with bulk simply because it's getting the high nute portions consolidated while it's expanding.

Bulk bottles, straw bottles, brf cakes all need some consolidation because they do not get expanded. As for PE and KSSS, people used to feel that blob type fruits could be minimized with some consolidation. While azur's thread is impressive, it does not make that info defunct. So far we have no idea why it works or even how often it works. There has been no controls run yet. Also I believe azur just ran a tub full of blobs with it. So not guaranteed.

Interesting, ty once again pasty white. Appreciate the reply greatly

I was getting quite a bit of blobs w my KS. I quite running that strain latley but I'm gonna bring it back in time.

I'm too much of a newb to have gathered any observations on why I think they blob like that. People soo love that strain tho.

I'm Def gonna try and do some heroin this straw tek tho  prob some hypsugus tessulatus also.

Do u guys buy organic straw? Is that a concern for u guys at all??

I was usually running a 1:1 spawn ration w the KS. Sometimes 1:2. I've yet to really play w spawn ratio. Just starting to now actually. Gonna try diff ratios w all the varieties I have. Currently doing orissa for the first time again in 7yrs. I first started w the orissa. Gonna see how I like em this time around I'm excited

Is that high for them? Still learning so much here lol

I'm just getting into the swing of things, understanding how genetics work somewhat.. I hope to in time bring my own domesticated variety from a wild print.

And also a cross of my own. Which will both be only released to friends and on this site for free and trade.

Hey so I have a big bale of straw but I got lazy and Koop

its been outside for like a couple months.

Normally I soak my straw in soapy water overnight anyways and pasturize so it doesnt matter much if its dirty does it if I just rinse it ?

Is it hard sorting out the moisture in these with wet straw?

straw needs to be stored dry, it's probably moldy by now and useless
