I don?t hear anybody talking about this stuff. You can find it at just about any indoor grow shop. Check out the price.

Another decent deal for ya.

Between 5 bucks and 6.50 depending on where you buy it.

I haven't tried it, just stuck with vermiculite. I think the reason not too many people talk about it lately is because people think it's some exclusive thing or something. I remember there being lots of confusion as to what it was and where to get it.

Plenty of people are using coir, check the grow log forum. For my first grow I made 2 casings, 3 1/2 pints of Australian each. My casing layer was 60/40 Vermiculite and Coir. I would say it was a very successful first grow.

p.s. magash about 80% of the casings I see people doing here are either coir or coir/verm

Coir is great, just don't mistake its smell for bacterial contams. It smells kind of sour in my opinion.

These people I know are casing with just Coir this time and it's working wonderfully - colonization was much faster than the 60/40 and it seems to be pinning much more heartily.
(They've refined their tech since they last case, though, so it may be a number of factors)

I love Coir. It is the only thing I have ever used. I have never even birthed cakes. I just went right into the 60/40 verm coir tek. No problem. Coir is great.

Agreed- the people I know somehow botched their first run with cakes, so tried the 60/40 next and had insane results!

(Love you sigfile, btw, crazy)

Well, I guess it smells like coconuts, of course. Don't you think coconuts have a funny smell to them? I do.

Good post Magash.

Only $2 a "brick" from Woolworths (for any Aussies out there).

Once I run out of verm, I'll give it a go neat. I hear many folks (including this thread too) give it a great billing.
