Re-hydrating cakes before fully colonized.

My friend George Dubya came up to me and asked me this question one day so I thought I would ask the experts.
"I had one of my BRF cakes become contaminated and when I removed it from the jar to inspect and realized that it was REALLY dry.
My other cakes have almost stopped growing now and I was wondering if I could use a syring to inject a little more water into the other cakes to see if they would begin colonizing again.
I would boil the water like I was making a new spore syringe and let it cool first. has anyone tried this before, or is it a bad ideah?
P.S. I cut off the small contaminated parts and dunked the rest of the cake and am attempting to fruit it now, just in case."
George Dubya is pretty new at this and is pretty worried that his cakes havent grown in about a week and a half. His temps are perfect, and there is no tape on the jars to prevent air exchange. what else might the problem be?

Ya you can just try to direst the water ino the center if you put it down the side it will be bad just dont add to much like 3 or 4 cc's and it should be fine
