PIX: My first Oyster mushrooms?????

Went hiking in the rain. Found these on a large fallen oak tree. Sure look like oyster mushrooms to me, but I don't have the courage to consume them (or go back for more) without confirmation. Opinions? Trusted identifier help, please?
Note: The mushroom depicted on the plate is sopping wet. Edit: Now that they're drying out a bit, I can say they have that anise smell - like fennel. I think that's a good sign, no?
Thanks to all!

Thanks, guys for the responses! There's more rain (finally!) in the forecast for tomorrow, so Saturday or Sunday I'll return to the spot, which I marked with my GPS. The woods around here are easy to get lost in when the sun isn't out to guide you and keep you oriented. I also found two massive Hen of the Woods...about 10 lbs. worth, so I just took a few of the oysters, placing them in my sweatshirt pocket since my mushroom bag was full to capacity! As between the two, I prefer the Hen of the Woods (Maitake).
All these mushrooms I found in a previously unexplored area of the forest. I wasn't particularly efficient getting out carrying my booty. In fact, I got pretty turned around before finally bumbling my way out.
If I can find time to make up some agar today I'll clone one of the nicer looking oyster mushrooms.
Plus 5 shrooms in the ratings for taking the time to read and respond!

OK...I made some fresh 2% MEA and cloned the big mofo and one of fruits of modest size - but perfect symmetry. The waiting begins.

Awesome work dude. After you have a viable LC i suggest a good supplemented hardwood substrate for them. I used to use oak sawdust, coconut coir, bran, worm castings, gypsum. They LOVED it.

Evidently they like MEA as well, because it's only been 16 hours and I can already detect about 1mm of gossamer fuzziness = mycelium on all four plates! Damn, P. ostreatus is aggressive! I'm surprised I don't find it growing virtually everywhere what with all the downed oaks lying about from superstorm Sandy...but no...

For sure a very agressive mycelium. Used to fully colonize my WBS spawn in pint jars within 2 weeks.

in my neck of the woods (VA) they're much, much more common on soft poplar than on oak. seems like every poplar branch the diameter of my leg or larger that falls out of the tops of poplars in my woods gets (or already is) colonized and fruits within about six months or less.
