Mushroom Juice Extraction Before Drying?

Has anyone on here actually attempted to extract the juice from a mushroom before drying them?
If so, can the juice itself possibly contain any psilocybin in it, and counldnt you just drink the juice also?
Example: An orange can have its juice extracted and then be dried, and both the juice and the dried orange will still have alot of Vitamin C still in them.

There wouldn't be enough medicine in your shrooms once you extract the juice.

Its just water dude. Boil the mushrooms in a tea, discard mushrooms. There is your juice
You can put mushrooms into honey for a few months to leech out the goodies and it preserves for years and years.
Interested to see if you can make pyschedelic mead with blue honey though!

Right? The actives are soluble in alcohol so it wouldn't hurt them I don't think. I don't know much about mead other than its made with honey

I'm a mead brewer I'll try this for science. Does anyone know how psilocybin reacts to yeast? Wondering if I should make psychedelic honey to ferment or add it after fermentation.

I've had some dry shrooms in honey for about a month now and the honey is just getting really milky looking I guess you could say?? Harder to see through, more hazy, but not turning blue at all.

Well first you would make psychedelic honey and then use that in the brewing process

Will you teach us a thing or two about making mead?

It's pretty easy. Work clean and keep all equipment sanitized and you won't have to worry much about contams.
Yeast pretty much just breaks down sugar and turns it into alcohol and co2. Honey is not a nutrient rich food so I would add something for the yeast to thrive on. I usually chop up a handful of raisins and add to the brew for this purpose, but if you don't want to add the grape flavor through the raisins you can buy yeast nutrient from a brew store.
The procedure is fairly simple. For a one gallon batch: 1. Pour about a half gallon of water into a pot and heat to boiling. 2. Once the water is boiling, remove from heat and add chopped raisins. You can also add anything else you want to flavor with here, for example I like to throw in 3 sliced cucumbers and 3 deveined/deseeded jalapeños. 3. Cover and let sit for half hour. This would be a good time to let the jars of honey sit in the sink with hot water (this helps soften the consistency). 4. After the time is up, remove the flavoring additives but leave the raisins. 5. Stir the water and slowly add honey while stirring in. Make sure honey does not settle because it may caramelize. I like to use 2-3 pounds of honey per planned gallon of Mead. I would use local honey (especially the unprocessed honey) for better flavor but store brand is fine. 6. When jars are empty, you can even add a bit of water, shake, and pour to make sure you get all the honey goodness. 7. When the honey is dissolved well, pour into your fermenter (I use a 1 gallon glass carboy), and add water if needed. Make sure you leave a few inches empty at the top. 8. Attach your airlock and let cool. I use cheap vodka in my airlock to keep out contams. 9. When cooled to 70 degrees (I just let cool overnight), add your yeast and let the magic happen.
When selecting your yeast, go with wine or champagne yeast. I have had great results with pretty much every white wine yeast I've tried. Let ferment at room temperature for a few weeks until fermentation stops. At this point you can siphon into a secondary fermenter. At this stage I add more flavoring (usually more jalapeño and cucumber) and let sit for a week before siphoning into a third fermenter. Whether you flavor or not you will want it to age for a few months before bottling. IME 3 months is perfect.

If you like your Mead to be sweeter, you can also add more honey when you move to the secondary in order to backsweeten. I like mine dry so I haven't tried this, but if you do you will want to make sure fermentation has stopped or else the honey can kickstart it. I would let it age for a few weeks after fermentation stops before back sweetening, but brew stores sell chemicals that can kill yeast if you want to be sure.
If this is your first brew I would just keep it simple with honey and raisins, plenty of time to experiment later. I may try flavoring with cranberries in my next brew and backsweetening.
