I do not own a pressure cooker.I wanted to try rye along with PF for my first grow so i tried this.
I soaked for about 16 hours, rinsed, let drain for about 10 minutes, loaded in jar With polyfill lid, steamed for about 40 minutes, let set over night, next day steamed for about 35 minutes, let sit overnight,3rd day steamed about 70 minutes, let sit overnight, next day innoculated with GTs,shook to mix up spores coating all rye.
Question #1-was this done correctly?
#2-Is this a reliable method or not
#3- if the jar was going to contaminate, how long would it be before you could safely say it probably doesnt have any contaminants?
thank you for your help.

If you don't see germination in 1 week or 2, then i would start worrying. If it germinates and it takes too long to colonize - more than a month - then maybe, you could be dealing with some problems too.
Good luck !
First thank you for the help.
Second I do see growth. This morning after 4 days i noticed about 10(that were visable anyway)grains that had myceluim growing on them!My PF jars are on there 10th day before i saw growth. And im glad i did it right.Thanx again all.oh yeah the containers are 1/2 pint so this shouldnt take long to fully colonize right?especially at this rate.
