One Year Without Alcohol...... 7

Not a drop. My health feels way too good now to fuck it up with alcohol, plus my liver wont take it.
But I plan on taking the mother of all bridgesii trips over the holidays, hopefully with y best friend (a great pro musician) A two-footer of fat bridge should do me...

For fun--I play musical instruments. Getting ready to record. And Troll the political forum...
How did I stop drinking? Well, when you liver is failing, your body swelling up with water, and you don't have enough energy to get out of bed, and you are sick all the time, and have HCV and the doctor says your liver might last a year if you start drinking (now that I am cured of HCV) then it is kind of easy not to drink.

I can't risk it. I have end-stage liver disease (cirrhosis at stage 4) that will end me if I drink. But my liver with slowly heal accroding to the doctor.

I haven't drank in 2 weeks which is unusual for me. I just got to a point where I was tired of feeling like shit weekend mornings every weekend. Also, I have atopic dermatitis and have had massive improvements in my skin where i have flare ups(it's like dandruff) Haven't had to use some prescription cream at all this week which I have needed to use for the last few years. I never knew it was alcohol contributing to that issue.
I'll still drink but not like I was. Glad you are doing well.

No, but I brought up amphetamines. That was one of the few drugs they are OK with, with the caveat that you keep your blood pressure down. HIGH bp can cause portal vein hypertension. Alcohol is definitely the last thing one should consume if they have chronic hepatitis.

Keep it up, dude. I had almost 3 years under my belt until about 3 weeks ago. This time of year is ultra hard for me to resist....I love the Fall beer selection.
It's crazy, because I had such a strong resolve until the very moment I decided to have another beer. So, look out....the temptation is always there!
It was a beautiful fungus experience (4g dried Golden Teachers and 2.2g dried APE, all down the hatch at once) that got me to stop in the first place. I have had some issues with booze throughout my life, and the mushies told me to stop. So I listened...until recently....and I kinda regret it. Gonna have to start at "Day 1" again soon, which is never fun.
Good luck!

Congratulations, you gave yourself one more shot at life.
To quit alcohol addiction for a year is admirable, many just can't, like smokers smoking through their tracheostoma they just go into oblivion, unable to stop.
I would recommend to you to take LSD, 1P-LSD or AL-LAD and not Bridgesii cactus. Its a thousand times easier on the liver.
Try to eliminate your sugar intake, and take Milk Thistle religiously in standard doses if your doctor allows.

One beer a night in no way makes you stupid. Too many people confusing a social drink with being a drunk. The bitches aren't just going to wander into your basement. I want to know how non drinkers maintain a social life. I hear people playing guitar and tripping, alone at home. What do non drinkers do to meet new people? I was expecting answers like sports or chess club or something, not I sit at home alone crying.

Concerts, parties, chill with friends etc etc. Alcohol isn't the only drug in the world
It must suck to be so dependant on alcohol for fun. It sounds like you have no idea how to live without alcohol. You should probably take a break

23 Days sober here. Most everybody wakes up to the fact sooner or later, alcohol is nothing but destructive.
The alcohol experience: Making yourself sicker with every drink, but with every drink becoming more numb to the pain.
I've gone 11 years comparing myself to people like my uncle who failed his liver, my grandpa whom I never got to meet, because he failed his liver. My mother who drove me around drunk, passed out and left me hungry, embarrassed me in front of every friend I ever had, forgot me and left me places, lost every job she ever worked, 4 DUI's, 10+ times in rehab. I've compared myself to these people and told myself I didn't have a problem. I never crashed a car or got a DUI, though I should have several times. Never lost a job or a friend or anything. I have a car and a job and I can afford a 6 pack every night, fuckin of course I don't have a problem!
But it doesn't have to be as deep and wide as a ocean to be a problem.
Then one night, I stumbled into my room drunk, and giggly, and flopped down on my bed. Then the carnival kicked into high gear. Why are you doing this? Do you really still think this is fun? What about tomorrow? What about your body? Your brain. What about the hobby work you should have done tonight? What about the work left undone? The shit on the floor of your truck, the stuff in the sink? What the fuck are you doing?
That was 24 days ago. I could only describe the feeling as utterly disgusted with myself, with my habits. It would break my fucking heart to not be able to be the man I need to be for my family, for my woman, for my friends. I want to be everything they need me to be. I can't be anything, I will never amount to anything, if I continue to drink.
That's what I said when I introduced myself at my first AA meeting. It was a lot more painful to say it then, and admitting to them and to myself as well, for the first time, "I'm Jake and I am a Alcoholic."
Never going back again. Keep up the fight folks.
To patlal: The answer for myself is, hell yes. I get more done, I don't ever feel like shit anymore. The focus is there, I feel closer to THIS moment and my place in it than I have in a long time of being hungover everyday. For months I have been looking high and low into nutrient and vitamin deficiencies to explain my general fatigue of the past year, only to find out that there isn't anything wrong with me except alcohol.

I have only met one full blown alcoholic, drank from the minute he woke up but worked his ass off it was crazy. He'd eat one meal a day at lunch and all the rest was just beer. I have no idea how you can become like that, he used to tell me "PrepH, you wanna drink like this it takes practice man, it takes years to get on my level!"
I dont think I have any addiction with alcohol I just like the effects. I always told myself, if you can quit and not do a drug for a month, you're fine.

PreparationH said: I have only met one full blown alcoholic, drank from the minute he woke up but worked his ass off it was crazy.
Damn thats crazy sounds a little bit like my uncle he drank a bottle of whiskey every other day and worked 10 hours a day at some factory. When he got laid off though he upped his drinking and eventually died.

Congratulations starfire ...awesome stuff!...Just don't go fooling yourself that you can have just one drink...that could be a fatal mistake. You are lucky to be alive...are you taking milk-thistle supplements?...this could help with liver regeneration.
