Exhausted Noam Chomsky Just Going to Try to Enjoy the Day for once
Quote:
Chomsky, who often defines himself as a libertarian socialist, then changed the channel to ESPN, taking a moment to acknowledge the role of professional sports as a "weapon of mass distraction," keeping the American people occupied with trivial competitions so they do not focus on opposing the status quo with grassroots movements against foreign and domestic policies that ultimately harm them. "Stupid NBA playoffs," Chomsky said. "At least it's better than that NCAA March Madness crap. A university is supposed to be a center of learning that questions the state's crafted messaging, not an entertainment factory."
Guy in Philosophy class Needs to Shut the Fuck Up
Quote:
Although he demonstrated a familiarity with Peter Singer's view on famine relief during a discussion of John Locke's theory of property, Floen is reportedly unfamiliar with the theory of cramming it for a change and giving someone else a chance to speak.

Nice. I really enjoy The Onion, although I don't have any favorites offhand. I like the video series "Today Now".

Some of my favorite stuff from the Onion are the recurring community pieces. These are written by characters who over time have become fully formed. You get to know them and their lives, it's very funny stuff.
One of my favorites is A Room of Jean's Own by Jean Teasdale. Jean is a middle aged married woman living the struggle out in Ohio. She's unemployable, obsessed with cats and chocolate, married to a drunk, and completely oblivious.

Another favorite is The Cruise by Jim Anchower. Anchower is a stoner who lives a life that I think many pubbers can relate to.

Boyfriend Ready To Take Relationship To Previous LevelQuote:
"After spending every waking moment with Carol for 72 hours, I know in my heart that I'm prepared to see her face twice, maybe even once a week," said Sullivan, who met Moag, 34, at a friend's New Year's party in January.
