After the damp rid vs dehydrator debate the other day, I'm staying out of this one

I can't take damp rid seriously lol. Anytime I hear someone arguing for damp rid I just think back to my nooby dumb days when I thought I could dry with desiccant.. I couldn't, and everyone bitched to me about potency. Then I used an oven, and it kicked damp rids ass. Then I got a dehydrator and it kicked my ovens ass. That's how I evolved. Now I get no complaints on potency. I know its more than just a little potency lost after a few days..

I wonder what caused this to stop working between now and then :V
(it didn't stop working)
back in the day I used an air tight aquarium and a drip shield to grow pf-tek cakes. it "works" by why go through all the hassle? if you dont have a dehydrator rather oven dry your mushrooms than your damp rid

Agreed space. Just because something can work in principle doesn't make it a good idea. I could use my feet to eat instead of my hands if I wanted to.
Damp rid is not going to dry the fruits well. The staggering number of threads in the last month from people who put fresh mushrooms in a desiccate chamber and rotted them is sad. The fruits at the minimum need to be fan dried first too be sure.
I see damp rid as something overly expensive given how much fucking around it entails. I did it when I had my first grow and after a few days decided it sucked and bought a dehydrator. The number of containers, amount of damp rid needed, and time it would take to dry a 66 quart mono worth of fruits makes desiccate chambers useless IMO.

Dang wish I seen this sooner. Have the shit necessary for it. Hell I wouldn't have bought the dehydrator if I knew my desiccant was putting water back in my shrooms. After I dried the silica I even put a semi wet shroom in it and its cracker dry now.

We have a heated fan/vent in one of our rooms. Put a thermometer approx eight inches away. I'd assume if I ever had actives, they'd be mostly cracker dry at the 24h mark, with no loss in potency. Sometimes it's the oddest things that [may] work incredibly well.
