Monotub- Confused?

I have a Monotub Question. There is so many different ways to do things, it can be confusing and makes me start overthinking.
1. On a Monotub, Do I tape the holes first, and once its colonized, I then take the tape off and stuff them with pollyfill?; or do I just stuff them with pollyfill from the beginning?
and..
Do I put Saran Wrap under the lid, before or after colonization ?

Great question. There is a lot of debate these days on whether to stuff the holes from the beginning or to just tape the holes. Either method will result in full colonization of the sub in about 7-10 days, generally speaking.
If it were my tub, I would just tape them. If you were going away and couldn't watch your tub, then you could stuff the holes from the start and harvest your fruits at the end, totally maintenance free. Here is Azur's thread on the topic: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/22315950/page/1/fpart/1/vc/1/nt/17

No need for saran wrap, you want some GE for your monotub. Just put on the lid and make sure it "clicks" into place. The small airgaps created between the lid and the tub will be more than enough GE.

I'd just tape them till they are colonized, they get more then enough ge through the imperfectly sealed lid

I just tape the holes and tape the rim where the lid meets the tub so once its ready just remove all the tape and fill the holes with polyfill.
Also don't pack the holes to tight with polyfill it will make it alot harder for good AE. An ideal pack is a little loose but enough to where you'll get a ring around the air hole.

You want that GE for your tub tho. As mentioned above, the imperfect seal of the lid will provide all the GE you need. No need for excessive taping, too much work. Keep it simple

While an Imperfect Lid sounds reasonable for GE. Wouldnt the imperfect lid seal also cause my moisture in the tub to escape?

Nah not enough to make any difference.
I have heard the argument made to stuff poly during colonization if you use large stacks of tubs though and it made sense to me

I lost a tub to this before I think(no way to know for sure) but it was the bottom tub on a stack of 5 when I opened it it wreaked of bacteria but as it was summer it ended up outside where it actually cleared up over the course of a few days and fruited now I stuff 1 top hole tightly when I plan on stacking them

In theory it contamd cause it was under 4 other monos and wasnt able to get GE thru the lid and I think this because the smell went away and the tub fruited quite well as soon as it got some air so now I try to avoid all that with tightly stuffed top poly sorry if im an airbrain and explained it poorly the first time bro

i tape the lid during colonization then untape it once its done but it can help to leave the tape on if your having trouble keeping humidity up

dont sacrifice FAE that means so much for both pinning and fruit formation just because you're too lazy to spray some water on the sub

I never use tape. I just pack the holes with Polyfil. Then you can always remove some to make it a looser fit if necessary. I'm trying to figure out ways to plug my holes so I don't have to go back and add more or remove some. I read somewhere that tighter fitting bottom holes and looser top holes should work all around. I would also recommend during colonization to leave fans to a minimal if not completely off. Then some indirect air flow around the tubs helps when they start to pin.

Full colonization is always pinning trigger number one, in nature they dont get the advantage of high co2 levels
