It really ate that shit up, I'm glad I didn't wait until 30%. I wasn't planning on patching. I have been giving lots of FAE(top poly very loose and ceiling fan on low) and misting about once a day. I think I may see a few knots trying to form.

I hope so, yeah I will be taking a few clones and several swabs if all goes well. Next tub will be 6 quarts oat spawn (next transfer of the same culture) cased with 2 quarts jiffy. Just waiting on the last 2 of 8 jars to finish because the first two that finished are to be used as masters.

My first attempt at isolating aggressive growth from MS on agar then spawned to oats is fruiting as we speak. The results are weird. Because I was not working with a clone and had no clue what kind of genetics I would get. I mixed 4 jars which started from 4 different cultures in one tub to Damon tek with gypsum.
This tub is about 5 days behind my B+ tub that I spawned at the same time but with 1 more jar... but from MS and not from isolation.
Okay so I pulled a pin to examine it today and it's meaty but they aren't growing upwards. I do notice I seem to have similar looking pins in huge clusters. All have fuzy feet. Strange... I think it must be genetics because I have never gotten fuzzy feet any of my past tubs in the first flush. I even removed some of my polyfil thinking maybe I needed more FAE.
This is the Argentina strain BTW.

I would still give them a tad bit more FAE, I don't even fruit with my top holes but I mist my monotub, but otherwise not worry about it.
I think you came to the right conclusion, it's most likely genetic. My PESA gets fuzzy feet with no top holes
Give them some more time, they got a fair amount of growing to go
Mixing different cubensis strains sometimes causes weird things to happen and also slows the process down a bit.

How do you mix different strains?

Is this done my making a spore syringe out of spores from two different strains? Wouldn't that just make a random mix of both strains fruit sharing one substrate? Or would it make a hybrid strain? Or would just one strain fruit?

any of those could happen with that route...or all three it's up to you to put the work in to reach your desired results. you could mix spores, print spores on spores, use agar and isolates....different ways to try, one of the great aspects of this hobby is there is always room

Thanks for the response man! I didn't mix strains... these are all Argentina, just different culture plates grown from the same MS syringe. I wanted a little variation since I had no idea how one plate would perform over the other. I loosened the polyfil a bot more and gave them a nice misting. I enjoy misting my tubs, even though I'm not sure they need it. The substrate always looks like it is glistening and the sides have condensation. But when I open my tubs I feel like I might as well add some water.

I would remove your top holes completely for a day youre home and monitor if it dries out badly after a 12 hours. If a mist can replace it then you're just adding more FAE.
I case all of my totes though.
Different plates is completely fine, I misread . B+ and Golden Teacher are probably the most domesticated strains so I'm not surprised its faster then the lesser printed Argentina.
I would def clone that cluster though
When I do MS I always do 1 qt, then 3 qts until a clone and then 6 qts in a 66 qt for the reasons you're seeing. The most aggressive mycelium fruits sub par sometimes.
Have you tried casing yet? It lets you toggle the FAE more which I like. Monotubs are mans construction, mushrooms were growing out in the wild with max FAE and a casing long before we picked them

Exactly what Cron said,
I'm going to swipe fresh prints of both on to all my agar plates and see what happens.

I'm making a batch of syringes later with spores from several different varieties of cubes. The resulting fruits will just be cubes.

I'm not trying to work on a new variety until ESS is finished. It would be cool if some rusty PE pope up but that's not my goal. I'm basically just making wilde cubes out of domesticated varieties.
