Don't worry, that's fairly average for spore syringes on BRF, I have a jar that is at around 75 percent, and it will have been colonizing for two months on the 25th. I cant wait to see if it actually produces fruit.

two months? that really sucks! were you colonizing at cold temps too? and why do you say you want to see if it actually produces fruits? are jars that colonize slowly prone to not fruiting well or what? is there any benefit to colonization taking so long? like.. do people associate it with higher yields or bigger fruits or does it just mean more waiting?

It's a bit below optimal temps, we keep the house between 68 at night to 70-72 during the day, during the winter anyway.
I wouldn't say that there's anything wrong with a slow jar just because it's slow, that could be from a lot of different factors, but sometimes slow jars will stall out, and that usually means that something is wrong. So I'm hoping that mine makes it to 100% without any issues, as long as it does I shouldn't have any problems trying to fruit it.
As far as benefits, I've heard some theories but I'm not sure that anything is proven. A few claim that their slowest jars produced the most potent fruits, with a lot of speculation about longer colonization giving the mycelium more time to build up active alkaloids before releasing them into the fruiting bodies. I suppose that is possible, but I haven't really read into it.
In the end, you really just gotta grow them out and see what happens, I'm still waiting for my first successful fruiting, I'm on my second batch of jars this winter. I just got a new part-time job so I'll finally have some money rolling in, and I can start getting a little more serious about this.

hm interesting theory. would be grest if they really are more potent haha btw I went and actually checked on each of my jars earlier today and turns out some were like 70-80% colonized the four jard that were furthest away from the edge of the shelve colonized the fastest and the other 5 are between 40-60% colonization. 1 jar didn't colonize at all. I'm thinking I might've accidentally forgotten to inoculate that jar. I don't see any contams on it so what should I do about that jar? I mean it's been sitting there for about 5ish weeks now withou myc. would it be okay to try to inoculate it now? I might still have a tiny bit of spore solution left in my syringe.

Best to either forget it or prep a new jar if you want to use that last bit of solution. As soon as the tape was taken off of that jar, the sterility was compromised. Over the last five weeks contaminants such as dust, mold spores, bacteria, etc. have settled onto the dry verm barrier inside the jar. If you try to inoculate it now, the tip of your syringe will push those contaminants from the dry verm barrier down into your moist substrate, and then you will definitely see the contaminates begin to take hold.
It is a good sign that the jar has survived five weeks without contaminating though, that means that your steaming/sterilizing process is good, and your dry verm barrier is solid. If you wanted to whip up another jar and use up the rest of your spore solution you certainly could, just follow the substrate ratios correctly: two parts vermiculite, one part brown rice flour, one part water.

wow I'm quite happy that my sterile technique is up to par, considering it's my very first time. I don't think I'll be reusing that jar right now. I rather wait until my current jars are birthed so I ca go and fill all of them up with substrate at the same time

ok so here's an update on my grow: jar 1 has now begun the 1 week consolidation phase jars 2-7 are at about 80-90% colonization and jars 8-11 are at about 40% jar 12 has no growth because I forgot to inoculate it. no contamination has been present on any jars so far. I got a drill and one of those fan things that heat up a whole room so I'll be able to provide optimal temperature now and thanks to the drill I can make holes in my tote now to make a SGFC (I'll be getting perlite this week). I will be on a one-week break when I birth my first jar so I can give the cakes my maximum devotion for that first week or so

Check out some teks for growing oysters, good one to start with. doubt you would have much luck fruiting them on cakes in a SGFC, but from what I hear they are very easy to grow.
 They can't all be winners

Mono's are great, I like smaller tubs for that reason, less eggs in one basket. If one contaminates you aren't out much. That one was just some leftover bs I was going to throw out anyway just thought I would give it a chance. The sub was too thin, I didn't pay attention to it and it dried out and contamed.
Spawned these last night, Gyo's AA+. 3 quarts oats inoculated with cornmeal plate LI, jars colonized in a week with no shake. Spawned to CVG & cased with pasteurized jiffy and poly at spawning. It's been dry here lately so I decided to case, I love jiffy. The last bag I got was good stuff, hardly no sticks or anything to pick out.
