I have a large cabinet above my fridge in my kitchen that should have a shelf. If it did it would be perfect and would be able to hold 48 jars. The towel closet in my hallway which is exceptionally cool, even in the hot summer and without air conditioning is occupied with towels in the lower cabinet but upper cabinet is free. If I had shelfs in there I could fit another 48 jars.

do you guys think if I store my jars after inocculation on top of a shelf in my walk-in closet next to my folded clothes and leave them there for like a month they'll be fine?

Use a nail. Poke the holes from the inside of the lid. Makes putting the polyfill in more easily. If you're gluing a SFD to the jar drill the hole from the outside of the lid and sand the top a little first.
Anyway, I'm pulling up a chair. This tub is APE. Culture was generated from a G2 grain jar I obtained from a friend. A single colonized grain was dropped on a petri dish, and the plate was left to grow out, consolidate, and eventually pin. The invitro pin was placed on a new dish, and before the culture had a chance to sector a dime sized wedge was dropped into a pint of millet.
The pint of millet was expanded to 9 more jars. One jar contaminated and was discarded. The remaining 8 jars were used to inoculate 8 spawn bags, each with 5 quarts of oats. In front of the flowhood, each pint of millet was dumped into a bag. One bag was lost to trich, one bag was lost to an unidentified contaminant, and the third was lost to bacillus. The other 3 spawn bags will be used but not documented here.
Anyway, this pic is one of 2 tubs that were spawned yesterday. Substrate is 50% leached, aged hpoo, 25% finely chopped soaked straw, and 25% fine verm pasteurized at 135-145f for 90 minutes. Spawn ratio is 5qts spawn to 7qts bulk. The grains are just beginning To show recovery. I'll continue to post updates on the tub. Once this tub is done I plan to take swabs and give them to the community on a first come, first serve basis.

Awe, you are so helpless and cute. Dremels are super cheap and useful. Think about getting yourself one. You can use it for all sorts of things like drilling those holes to making your SAB!

Haha I cut my SAB holes with a butter knife and a blowtorch. Never even thought to buy a bit for my Dremel. Honestly I don't even mess with lids any more. I just use rings and whole SFDs. The only thing about using whole SFDs is that you have to make your grains a little wetter but that extra gas exchange makes it a lot harder for contams to hide.

Hi Butter,
I run this place and I order all of your questions answered by these nice people.

Welcome Eno
Sick APE tub, mind saving a swab for me , I want to play with fresh APE spores. I was just telling someone else in this thread that doesn't have a drill to use a heated up screwdriver for sgfc holes

Looking forward to watching the progress of your tub, Eno.

Speaking of APE, I inoc'ed 11 pastyplates of APE two days ago, and there's about a CC and a half or so left in my syringe for future experiments.

Eno,
APE tub looks sick. How'd you get it to stay within that temp range for 90 minutes? You have a stove which keeps water at the same level for that long?

@StJohn, can't zoom in on the pic, try editing the post, go to your pics copy and paste the url The poly at spawning PE tub is looking great so far, looks much healthier than my last tub fingers crossed. @ day 11 starting to see knots forming, far ahead of what the last tub was for the time pic update soon. Did the first set of transfers of the AA+ plates, some really nice strong myc. accidentally went a little on the more nutritious side with the agar mix this time myc looks a little puffy but it's all good.
Digging the title Gyo suits you well brotha. My storage situation is all screwed up, I got stuff everywhere hoping my wife's cousin moves out soon I will have a whole other room to work with.

I have an electric stove and if I keep it turned down low enough I can keep the water temp at a constant 140-150 pretty much indefinitely.
