Why kids today are a bunch of basket cases * 5
    #22503721 - 11/10/15 06:19 AM (8 years, 2 months ago)

Here's a great article from Atlantic Monthly called The Coddling of the American Mind

Its basicly weaponized thought control, or political correctness gone to bizarro land. Even Jerry Seinfeld says he won't perform at colleges because they are programmed by mind control to get offended at everything.

Recently at yale a professor was forced out because he supported not banning halloween parties on private property. Essentially people sometimes like to have themed parties where they wear sombreros and get falling down drunk on tequila and its racist. Defending free speech is now a crime and you will be shouted down by these basket cases.

Watch this poor guy who lost his job get shouted at because he said free speech is what college is supposed to be about. How ironic this is This is the death of western civilization, the meltdown is in progress and we all witness it in the world every day.

As a university student I can vouch that this is occurring. It's like the freaking thought police sometimes I just keep my mouth shut and try and suck it up and do my work. Colleges are most certainly indoctrination centers.

These losers have really taken over this country. We need to get to the point that we will no longer go along with the social control. They have gotten so extreme that if you are a white straight man that you are automatically a racist homophobic sexist. There is no talking to these lunatics so lets just let the name calling roll off us like water off a raincoat and do what we think it best for us. Its time to throw off the peer pressure and just tell the truth. If these people want to get mad and run around and scream just tell them to get a life and stop being a cry baby. Its extremely important to stand up for what's right and always try our best to do the right thing.

I think chris rock won't play colleges for the same exact reason, he said in an interview it's almost like they come to the show solely to look for something to be offended about.

Im really glad im not at uni because of this reason. people like this set me off so fast, i would probably last all of a day before ending up with assault charges.

This pc shit has gone way too far, and all these people stepping down and getting fired is only fueling the flames. they see that their nonsense ranting and yelling is getting results and its giving them more motivation to yell louder about "I was offended" or "you have to cater to this type of person or else!"

shit is straight redic:lol: Unfortunately with the way things are going it looks like this country is headed for a fucking meltdown before ill be able to get out:facepalm:

Thats actually pretty bogus, because how can you argue with partying, its a natural humane thing and we've been doing it for thousands of years.

They probably want it all uptight and professional there, which is probably impossible, and immorally unjust.

This is what happens when you give trophies for participation.

I hear about this kind of stuff at my university as well, but as a computer science student I'm pretty insulated from it.

Yeah well, remember what happened on colleges in the 60-70's? That's right, organised resistance to the regime. An attempted revolution. Breeding grounds for the counter culture.

We don't want that to happen again now do we?

Those idiots are the reason why we have a culture of whiny bitches now.  The William Ayres of the world took over the education system.

You are clearly a product of the William Ayres influenced generation of education that grants trophies for participation so that your self-esteem will not be impugned.

But to be honest I kind of agree with the OP. Kids are soft as fuck nowadays and get butthurt over the tiniest things that hurt their little feelings. I do think a lot of it has to do with the coddling like Zappa is saying. My parents didn't raise my super hardcore or anything, but I also wasn't rewarded and patted on the back for simply just existing. Growing up, a lot of my friends used to get money for their grades in school. When I brought this idea up to my parents, this was their exact reaction

:damnwtf:

They asked me why I thought I should be rewarded for basically doing what I was supposed to do
