Boiling water, ok? Coir and verm --per Damien's bucket tek. http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/11916595 Hardwood pellets -- per Evil mushroom/Lipa's tek http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/14258160#14258160 Straw per Muda's tek http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/21690790/fpart/1/vc/1
What about softwood sawdust (as in kitty litter) Or free sawdust received? Wheat bran? Oat groats grinded up into a powder Gypsum
Do these need to be pressure cooked?
Adding colonized grain.

yea, u should PC anything with nutrients for wood lovers.
that soft pine i bet u could do the pellet TEK fi u don't add anything in to it.
for real sawdust, i always sterilize, even if no supplement, but i think others might pasteurize.

Hardwood pellets aren't considered "real sawdust"? Sterilize meaning pouring boiling water over? What's soft pine?

they have to go thru a heating and compression process in production. it is real sawdust and has a binder in it (mycelium will eat it though)
thats why u can get away with boiling water.
real sawdust is raw and not clean, so i would hydrate it and sterilize in PC myself. others might pasteurize in jars or bags i thinkā¦.can't really recall or link any thread in particular, but i remember people pasteurizing shavings or mulch just as u would pasteurize poo.
if u add bran, you should sterilize in a PC.
the soft pine is the kitty litter stuff u mentioned. i never used it, but would expect it to be the same as hardwood pellets.
