It's extremely difficult for new users to find the new post button, I think this is why we have so many people piggybacking ID threads or resurrecting super old ones. Would it be easy to make that button bigger and located somewhere more visible?

It's not extremely difficult; they're just lazy. Oh, I mean yes, I agree.
Seriously though; this would help with thread-jacking in MH&I and probably other forums.

I see the same thing happen day in and day out. Newbie unintentionally hijacks an ID thread, someone tells them to make their own ID thread. Newbie says they tried for a while but couldn't figure out how to make a new thread.
after enough of that I realized that it's difficult to figure out if you're new and not used to VPb. It seems like it would clear a lot up if it was more prominently located and larger.

If they can't find an easily visible post button, perhaps they aren't smart enough to be posting here.

I would be inclined to agree, except that I would say they aren't ready to begin posting yet. Unfortunately, it would in my view be a bad thing to put the brakes on the enthusiasm of new members, so many of whom are only just discovering an interest in mushrooms.

The Internet is a lot bigger now.. MHI is nothing like I remember. In the interest of harm reduction it's a good thing, however it's hard to keep a thread about hunting on the first page for 30 minutes. On the same token, that other forum is barren. It's frustrating for other users I'm sure; I mean I don't care too much since there's so much left to learn, but it'd be nice to keep some on topic discussion going in there instead of a new user who can't upload images or doesn't know about forum stickies etc.
