That's unfortunate. Yea despite being the seat of the government, DC usually flips em the bird on a lot of things. Easiest I think of is the license plates. Apparently pot is legal? I visit in like 2 weeks I may have to look more at that.
I LOL'd when I saw Marion Barry though. Crackhead mother fucker.

Here son, your old enough to die for this country, but don't let your parents find out your deinking.
it's 21 across the country, louisiana is also 21 but they have a parental allowance of 18, you can drink at 18 if your parents are present, several other states have the provision as well

no, that's not it at all, they decided it was better to have the 18-20 crowd asking people outside of liquor store asking old men to buy them booze and then driving around while drinking since their parents would flip shit if they came home with the illegally obtained booze so they extorted the states to raise the drinking age by withholding federal road funds
My parents had a weird thing about us drinking out on country roads and insisted it be done in the basement instead and everyone had to hand over car keys first. I understand people rarely do that anymore for fear of getting sued. To me it's amazing no one is even talking about changing laws. Here they have bush parties or field parties with no supervision and people getting stabbed and rapes and all that good stuff. This clearly a case of the prohibition doing way more harm than good. I think there should be licensed clubs for teenagers only. I haven't had one of those kids outside the beer store ask me in ages
my mom was ok with us drinking to some degree, the rule she set was that we either drink at home or if we are out drinking then we need to call her for a ride home if we were not staying the night. this was in effect from the time I was 13, she knew we would regardless of any prohibition against it so she hit us with rules that were reasonable. I'm not an alcoholic because I managed to experience that drunkenness early enough to realize I didnt like it and I also had plenty of other influences in my life to see what happens with drunks and alcoholics
