Crystal/Gem people - identification help?

Can anyone help me figure out what this stone is?
It came for free in an order my boyfriend made and I really like it, but have no idea what it is. It almost looks like sea glass with really cool layers of color inside and lines and stuff.

Speaking of crystals & MDMA stuff, one of my friends once had the idea to wear an MDMA rock around his neck in a wire-wrap.

It kind of looks like a chevron amethyst. Though the shape/cut of it is a bit different from most amethysts I've seen. What is the texture like? Is it glossy? Waxy? Rough?

Actually I think it might be fluorite. Only thing is it doesn't have the more common fluorite structure. Most fluorite grows in cubicle shapes but that's not to say that what you have isn't fluorite. Also still could be amethyst. Both are common. And both are commonly confused.

The texture is really smooth like sea glass on the front and back, on the middle edges it's shiny and rough.

I think you might be right about the fluorite, although the other fluorite pieces I have are definitely in cubicle shapes. But this purple piece I have looks an awful lot like this.

Without reading the comments my guess is Amethyst.
Edit: Apparently faded gem stones are a thing!
Quote:
The reason why amethyst loses its colour in sunlight is due in no small part to what impurity in the SiO2 crystal structure gives the vivid purple and violet tones of amethyst.
According to several sources (1),(2),(3), the main source of the colour is naturally irradation-borne tetravalent iron Fe4+, which is formed via naturally occurring gamma radiation altering trivalent iron Fe3+ during crystalisation (3). Other elements exist as impurities but are far less important considerations for the colour produced (3).
The tetravalent state of iron is inherently unstable in 'normal' surface conditions and the process is reversible due to prolonged exposure to natural sunlight (3). Some research and experiments have demonstrated that some of the bleaching is caused by the UV portion of sunlight (4).
