Rye grain jar question

Alright so... After running a PF tek grow, I decided to experiment with rye grain. As called for in the PF tek, I placed the jar lids upside down, under tin foil, which was under the sealing ring. I also did this for the rye grain jars... Does it matter if the jar lid is upside down? I am using the truffle tek so the jar will sit for about 12 weeks or so. Should I re-sterilize with the lids on properly or am I good?

Where does the PF tek say to put foil under the ring? I have seen other ppl do it and I don't know why a person would do that. But yes you can put the lid rubber side up on grain jars

experimenting this early in the game is a bad idea. Follow a tek to get good results!

PF tek uses a dry vermiculite layer on top of the BRF/verm mix as a filter to catch contaminants. The foil goes on TOP of the jars just for the sterilization cycle and is then removed.
Grain jars don't use this, they need a gas exchange filter that also keeps contams out.
Synthetic filter discs would be the best. In the top pic I have jars with plastic one piece lids, with a hole drilled thru and a piece of SFD s iliconed in place over the whole.
The other jars have a SFD between the metal band and lid, covering the holes in the lid. You can also use a couple layers of kraft felt between band and lid, a piece of tyvek, or you can stuff a hole very tightly with polyfill.
Typical rye prep:
Rinse and strain 3 or so times.
Soak overnight with maybe a tsp of gypsum sprinkled in per quart of rye.
Bring to a hard boil for 10 min. Strain. Let steam dry, shaking occasionally to bring up more steam.
Grain jars need to be inoculated using best sterile tech in Still Air Box or in front of flow hood. Grains should be inoculated with clean culture on agar
Load jars and cover lids with foil, PC for 90 min to 2 hours.
