Foggy Jars
    #2249876 - 01/18/04 03:12 AM (20 years, 2 months ago)

I've searched for information on this...nada.

Is the precursor to colonizing mycellium, foggy jars? I'm assuming as of this point that fog is a good sign..?! I heard two snails discussing how his pf jars were getting foggy aroudn the substrate area, lower portion of the jars. Should they expect mycellial growth in those areas?

Condensation is perfectly normal durring colonization. If your jars arent even colonized yet, then your jar's water content might be off which might cause wet-spots in the jar.

Naw, no WET spots. The foggyness is evenly spread and the subsrate's water consistency looks from the outside to be even throughout the substrate. Theres no excessively wet spots or anythign like that. I just hope I didn't mess up the water content like u guys said.

Sometimes my friend will notice some of his jars appear foggy, this seems to be something on the OUTSIDE of the jars that will just wipe off with a wet finger, atleast in his case.

Actually....the jars have been foggy a tad since they were steamed/sterilized. Like you guys said, just possibly condensation and that never really hurts nothing....

Oh and BTW, about the water contnet of the jars beign altered....
I had a seperate post up earlier about this. People said to check the top layer of verm with the cap off to see if it was moist or wet, and the verm layer was nice and dry. So, it's prolly just condensation, however my jars aren't fully colonized. Actually? I'm at the stage kinda where I'm like, "What is THAT?" Not sure if it's RF not mixed will into the substrate or actual mycellium. Still not too sure, but I think Ive done everythign right up to this point.

it's probably residue from the aluminum in the PC, or mineral deposits from the water. nothing to wory about as long as they were sterilized.
