Mycelium not growing in one patch, bacteria? (pics)

So this pf tek jar is fully colonised apart from this small area, its not growing either. I made that pen mark around 4 days ago and no growth.

It seems like theres some brown stuff, but im not sure if that metabolites or not. Should i just go ahead and birth the cake? or wait a little longer? Thanks.

i cant tell what that brown stuff is, but to me it looks like the dry verm layer is dipping all the way down to where you are saying it's not growing. Maybe the jar was tilted at somepoint and that is just dry very covering colonized cake? or are you sure there is substrate left uncolonized?

also I can see water droplets at the top near the mouth of your jar suggesting that its dry very layer is not exactly dry. Any comments on that?

That could be a possibility, but it looks like uncolonized substrate to me. What should i do?

Edit: yes, the 'dry' verm layer may have gotten damp from the steam sterilization

looks like something nasty, may be excessive bacteria, you have a bit of bacteria towards the bottom of the jar as well.
bac is not really a problem once a cake is colonized tho, just rinse off the uncolonized stuff, dunk, rinse again, roll and fruit
