Which job would you take?

I have been offered 2 different job and need to accept one soon.
Job 1 is making $14/hr working a telephone . It's a call center for pharmaceutical companies where patients can call in about their medications and you help them with their questions. I have a friend who is here now and enjoys it and one of the big perks for me is it is a 5 minute walk from where I live now.
Job 2 is using my degree working as an exercise specialist for a sports medicine company at $12.50/hr. This is what I studied in school, it is my passion, but it's a 30 minute drive and I don't even have a car right now. I could get one though.
My long term goal is to open my own training/sports performance business so I eventually want to work full time for myself anyway but What would you guys do? The one is better pay and going to be a cheaper lifestyle with no car/insurance and etc. While the other is what I worked on getting my degree in but less money and the added expense of a car and everything else.

What's more important? $1.50/hour or getting experience in something that you'd like to develop into a career? In any case, a bycicle or moped and some ski gear for winter riding is far cheaper than a car.

I already have experience though and work for myself but I dont have that initial money to open my own gym yet to get the business to sustain that as a full time job. I can be ok with disliking the first job to save up faster because I would love to open my storefront in the next few years and feel like job 2 will push it further back but be a more enjoyable time.
There's pros and cons to both this is a tough one for me.

Job one. Save money, buy a car, in a year or two take a job in your field. Job two is even less money because you will commuting costs and, as you say, you don't even have a car. They aint cheap.

Listen to the man.
If your goal is to start your own business in a field in which you are already educated, certified and trained, and the only thing stopping you from doing this is start up capital, it's a no-brainer.

I would go for the highest paying. That way you can get ahead financially without having to waste cash on transport. Plus you have a friend there.'
Having a cushion will buy you liberty for a while or can even go towards opening your business.

Yes the initial pay is higher with job 1. But what are your future options? It is reasonable to assume higher end jobs also have a bigger potential for you yo move up the ladder (financially)
In the long run it might be beneficial to take job 2. Also easy work kills the mind

I accepted job one today and start next week. Full time, benefits, 401k match up to 2%, and the best part: It's a 12 minute walk from my house. It's a call center but for the money, not having to do worry about juggling odd jobs and my business is peace of mind.
Thank you for your help.
Ok serious question now, I haven't smoked weed since last December, how long after a drug test would be wise to wait before celebrating with the devil weed?

working towards your career i think is the best option. he who neglects to look to the future is doomed to repeat the past. its more important to climb upwards up the ladder then it is to get paid in the short term. thats the only way to improve your situation. is to climb up. increase your skills, experience, capabilities, employability.
