I've got a really old cake that's been sitting around a long time, I've been wanting some simple way to fruit it without having to build an SGFC. That link is hilarious, just what I wanted thanks for finding it from the depths. Totally going to do it like the one guy down further though, using a dish of perlite and placing the cake on top and cover with a bottle.

Do you have holes punched into the bottom of the container full of perlite? I see that it's elevated but I don't see any holes, I think you would have more fae if some could come up through the bottom.

I don't think fanning with a blow dryer after misting is a good idea because it would dry it out but then again I could be wrong.

Yea lose the blow dryer. Honestly fanning isn't even necessary its only to try to kick start evaporation after misting. I would just mist, no fanning/ blow dryer

I notice myc get "spikey" and puffy when the humidity is too high without enough gas exchange.

looks like you are having the same problems i had. for me it turned out to be low FAE.
65 doesn't sound like a problematic temperature to me. might slow things down slightly, but shouldn't produce stunted growth.
the clear top part of your FC needs to have some holes in it.
you might be overestimating the humidity requirements, this might put your mind at ease when you poke the holes: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/22105120/page/1
also in the future, if you are going to do single cake sized grows again, i would suggest trying the mono/double tub approach. i had success with a single cake i crumbled and put in a makeshift tiny FC made out of milkbottles: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/22470353/page/1 and i would stress that this was made with a bare minimum of thought put into it.

I made a few out of 5 g water bottles when I first started.(The bottles were free)
The straws sticking in the cakes was a watering tek I saw here.(noob) Quickly discontinued this tek because of the painintheass factor.
When I got bigger FCs I ended up gifting them to a friend, complete with 3 fuzzy cakes each. He was all when they ...
