Infected mushrooms? What to do?
    #2249957 - 01/18/04 06:56 AM (12 years, 10 months ago)

Okay, I have a little problem and I tried to look for old posts containing this subject but it doesn't seem that it has been exhausted before...

The problem is that I bought a growkit last week (last friday actually), and the first mushrooms have started to appear today (after 9 days). When I looked at the growkit this morning, I saw the worst thing I have ever seen, probably because I think that an infection took place tonight:

Some places on the top of the growkit there are some kind of blue colors on the white fluff. On certain areas a huge amount of mushrooms are coming up, and it doesn't seem that anything is wrong with them.

If these blue things are caused by an infection I'm afraid that it will spread itself to the whole growkit. And if this happens, the mushrooms will probably get damaged :frown:

So my question is: Is it normal to find these blue colors on the white fluff? There is also two of the mushrooms that have a bit of these blue colors on themselves, but they seem to be doing fine (I hope so)...

There is also an area of 16cm x 2cm (this area has most of these blue colors on it), and on that area there are no mushrooms AT ALL... nothing.

Can someone please help me? If the kit is infected I'm going to eat some kind of a suicide pill

Hope some of you guys have an answer...

So I just have to increase the humidity level?

They come up pretty fast... I can see that the first mushrooms started to appear on that blue area.

I have just boiled some water and I think I will drop it in the container where the growkit is and close the container, when the water is about 30 degrees... that should increase the humidity level, if that is what I have to do.

Would that be a solution?

Spray water in ur container (not directly on the casing , of course ! ) , if u dont have spray ,use a wet paper towel .
U want to see some little drops of water all over the inside surface of ur container , its the sign of good humidity level .
U could dunk it too , but its easier just to play with RH .

And yes i think ur solution should work !

its most likely bruising thats what it sounds like and if this the case your set if it spreads and you dont touch it in the mean time its not bruising and the only thing you can do is cut that section away can you get us a pic

@fee: Can you be a bit more specific?

I don't have a camera at the moment, but I'll try to borrow one soon... Now I have just increased the humidity level a lot - if it doesn't work, I'll try to get some pictures.
