My Ariocarpus scaphirostris was last repotted in 2011 - and was well overdue another - especially as a host of big and little sprouts had jumped in with it. (Why do we treat our seedlings with such kid gloves and shower them with excessive TLC when they do it all on their own under full sun with no problem?)

Well there is the A. scaphirostris, a couple of good sized Ariocarpus hybrids, I can see some smaller sprouts and a pair of Pelecyphora strobiliformis - those latter sprout like weeds.
Gently emptying out the pot there are:

Actually 8 little Ariocarpus sprouts - a total of 13 plants in the one pot. I put the 8 little sprouts in a pot together - see what they turn out to be - probably hybrid but there was another A. scaphirostris so I could have got lucky. The other 4 plants will go as gifts to friends.
The larger A. scaphirostris had two pups - something I have not seen on an Ariocarpus before.

Nice repot man. Isnt it related to trigonus?

Ariocarpus trigonus is indeed another member of the genus.

No A. trigonus and scaphirostris are distinct different species. A. scaphirostris inhabits a single very arid valley in the state of Nuevo Leon, where conditions are so harsh there are very few other plants that can survive.
Here is my A. trigonus - with sharp, thicker tubercles - the largest growing species in the genus. The browning of the tips of the older tubercles is typical of this species.
My collection of Ariocarpus. A fascinating genus that don´t grow too large.
 And a useful text.

Thelocactus lausseri, which I bought a few months back from a nursery in Germany. Now full acclimatised to Spanish heat, and developing some fearsome spines.

Two of my Astros producing seed at the moment.

A. myriostigma stacks of fruit bursting open all round the crown - trouble is they will mostly be hybrid.

Two fruits open on my A. myriostigma var. nudum var. quadricostata.. Again mostly hybrid, but it might be interesting to see if the sprouts have 4 or 5 ribs.

I don´t usually save the seed, but if any seeds sprout, I let them grow - the hybrid plants make nice gifts. If anyone wants any of that seed drop me a PM.

I found this little Astrophytum sprout - with four ribs. A hybrid - with one of the parents being my var. quadricostata. I presume.

Following on from the above, in the last 4 months the sprouts have done very well, and today I potted on the largest - it was looking very much like a miniature adult, and just starting to produce hooked central spines. Here it is in a 6cm pot - it will stay under fluoros for a week, before being gradually introduced to the sun.

I repotted my Cumarinia odorata sprout and here she is today

I love how the long hooked spines have developed.

I am about to repot this pair of Pelecyphora strobiliformis. This species is easily my most prolific for producing sprouts, and there will be plenty of little ones looking for a new home. PM me if you want some for free.

Those babies.
Your plants are a testament to how the hand of man may only hurt propagation. You sir.

A rather slow-growing, monotypic (having been placed in Strombocactusand taken out again) genus, Obregonia denegrii is not commonly seen in collections. I just repotted this pair germinated from seed I was given in 2013 - no flowers at all yet.
They don´t like the sun as much as some others, and do best in partial shade.
And the perennial question - why is one so much bigger than the other - when they have shared a pot all their lives?

The UGLIEST plant in my collection - Euphorbia obesa - with warts and all. It started off as a perfectly normal columnar example - before it developed three growing points and pups.

Oh...my... that is an ugly plant! I really like it though, it has a lot of character. I like the "warts" could pluck them off and root them, if you wanted more of that
