All cacti have a single growth point. With crested cacti, the point becomes a line. With Monstrousa cacti, every point can be a growth point.
Now with dichotomous cacti, it is still a single plant, but with 2 growth points. Think siamese twins.
This is my understanding...

What we take to be true is our reality.”

I've gotten to enjoy your abrasive attitude Mr.Fly
That is a wonderful plant with an interesting growth pattern.
Please do keep us informed on what happens with that bump. I'm very interested

A little L. williamsii - this one is definitely a survivor.

About 3 years ago, when it was a mere sprout, it got a very bad case of black rot - I had to cut half of it away - dusted it with cinnamon, but really had little hope. But it recovered, and became a 3 header, which flowered this year.

The cactus that just cannot stop reproducing is this one Encephalocarpus strobiliformis - although it has officially been put in the genus Pelecyphora, mine are still labelled with the older name

Beautiful flower display taken in the spring. A more recent pic shows the profusion of seedlings that keep appearing.

Just done what will be my last repot of this season. A 15 year old L. williamsii was getting a bit cramped, with its pups and sprouts filling the pot it has been in for 4 years.

I got 5 sprouts with her, two of which are double headers.

Hopefully some of them will become flowering adults next season. This is why I don´t grow L. williamsii from seed any more - my plants give me a steady trickle of sprouts.

Now it is December that makes it officially winter - so nearly all my guys have gone into their winter quarters - some cold frames and a couple of ´mini-greenhouses´. To keep them dry - if we get a prolonged cold and damp spell they will start rotting. I always seem to lose at least one every winter, anyways. This way they get their winter rest, and prepared for next summer. Pics of two of the cold frames.

Yes, I think all those you can clearly recognise as Lophs were produced here from seed. Not all necessarily sown by me though - go back a couple of posts !!

Awesome. I saw some small Ornatums in Home Depot yesterday and almost bought one, but they had cheesy fake flowers hot glued to the top and I didn't feel like the hassle of taking all that shit off.
You should post some pics of that thing flowering come spring.
