Oyster mycelium only covered the outside of a cake?

I'm doing cake grows just for testing purposes, had a couple that looked fully colonized, did a dunk, and it looks like the myc only covered the outside of the substrate, which is BRF/verm/sawdust.

The dunk appears to have washed the myc off the top of the cakes completely, the inside doesn't look colonized at all.
Suggestions?

Are those two uncolonized spots slimy?
The inside is probably colonized if not it's just going to finish colonizing anyways.

Going to keep a close eye on them but in the pic it's just very wet, because i had just barely taken it out of water before taking the pic.
The whole thing was covered with myc before dunking.

Just checked it out since it's had a little time to dry out. Feels more spongy than slimy. But also doesn't look like it has any myc through it at all. Guess I'll give it a few days and see what happens.

Cake too dense - anaerobic interior hence uncolonised?

That's not impossible, but I didn't pack them in or anything, made them the same way I've made successful cakes before, only with half sawdust and half verm.
Still not 100% sure I'm getting the water content right on the fuel pellets though, and presumably too much water could result in too solid cakes?

Nah, I would lean towards stalling jars being the problem.

The brown spots are definitely starting to come up white, so maybe it was colonized and just didn't look like it because it was super wet? Or maybe it was close and now its finishing? I dunno. Time to wait and see if I get pins I guess.

Guess I didn't need to worry. First little baby oyster cluster.
