I originally posted for help on the shrooms reddit 4 hours ago and in that time period received 5 downvotes and no help, Hopefully my friends and the shroomery can help me id these little guys. The pics are a little heavy on slow internet connections sorry about that. *Pictures here*
Some info on how I found them, Today I was just raking the leaves off of my lawn which I put down in September from rolls of sod bought from a local horticultural shop(No idea where the sod is from). Location where they were is southern NYC at 390 feet above sea level(area of my island)
Due to the raking I couldn't find many specimens and the ones I did were beyond photograph subjects.
The spore print in the photos is only after 3 hours so its a little light but to my eye its black-brown
For smell, i cant really smell anything to give it a description besides that it smells like water
There is also a few photos of a small one growing that was hidden in the lower level of the grass

Some of those are probably Panaeolus olivaceus. Also compare with Panaeolus foenisecii and P. cinctulus.

Would that make them safe to eat then, are there any other look alike for this mushroom, just want to make sure that its safe and I don't hurt myself. Just so i don't aggravate you or come off as arrogant, i did read everything you linked, and it seems that Panaeolina foenisecii is listed as inedible, just making sure that its not toxic if it turns out to be that.

None of the mushrooms you posted are toxic. The spore print you posted is either black or very dark purple brown. The darkest print that a toxic mushroom has is dark purple brown (like Psilocybe), your print looks darker - so probably Panaeolus foenisecii. It is ok to eat Panaeolus foenisecii. The grey cap points towards Panaeolus olivaceus, which is usually active.
Microscopy is really helpful with this group. It also helps to have good, well-lit photos of the mushrooms & spore print.
I check http://reddit.com/r/shrooms a couple times a year, you aren't going to get very good mushroom ID answers there. Either they have no idea what it is, or everything dark spored is a Psilocybe.
