i seriously cant wait until i get to the climax of la campanella, ive romanticized about climaxs enough that i want to make sure its grandiose as FUCK at the build up to the end and not many players understand what they are building too and end up missing the train i find.. i love valentinas version because it really builds to that triumphant epic climax. It has to be like its building to some ultimate truth, or towards infinite novelty like terence mckennas singularity or omega point.
gonna be soooo sick cant wait.
i see the whole piece as an expression of humanity's will to succeed.

I love it! Great way to describe the piece, or you can just compare it to a really good fuck I guess!

SleepyE said: Okay i decided to record a sample of what i know so for, but damn i gotta say, playing for practice and trying to record it are too VERY different things. even the hint of pressure to perform causes my fingers to move out of calibration, so i have trouble hitting the high jumps when im trying to record myself doing it, but once i turn the camera off i can do it with ease. Its like fucking double slit nonesense lol, so frustrating.
I totally understand man. I recently recorded myself playing a piece, and I was getting seriously frustrated with how many takes I had before I even got a decent one.
And then when the camera was off I'd play it perfectly.
I'd post it here if it weren't on facebook.
Also, that was very well performed. I wish I could play that fast. How long have you been practicing?
I recently heard this song:
Not a hard piece to learn, but I instantly fell in love with it. I've started singing recently, but never sang while playing piano so I figure this would be a good one to learn on. Just need to find the sheet music for it...
I wonder if Crystal G will wander into here. I know she plays.

Aha the struggle
Singing is definitely key, if i had a wider vocal range id get into it too, not sure if singing is a talent that can be learned, or if u have to be born with a certain voice. But i find myself envious of a lot of peoples vocal ability. If looked online for singing lessons and there is a bunch of exercises used to train your vocal range to hit higher notes.
Im gonna check out that vid u posted once i get to my desktop computer
Aha and when i was around 8-10 i started lessons and did that for about 2 years, played 3 recitals. last one was cannon D (which my teacher discouraged me to play because i did not have the experience ) aced it anyways I can believe i had the balls to play in front of 100s of people at such a young age, certainly dont have the balls for that now and the recital halls were huge because it was multiple schools coming to perform. Mine was a russian music school
at 12-14 i was learning to do 3d modelling to import into games like counter strike so my focus was divided between piano and art. started doing Tool renditions at 14.
then When i was around 15 i didnt have much in common with high schoolers my age so i spent my time trying to master rachmaninoff op32 no2 and i no lifed it just playing it over and over trying to increase speed and clarity until i got to a quality and speed that was better imo than most recordings of the piece i could find. I was a big tool fan so that influence shinned through as well, big influence on my understanding of climaxs.
But training on rachmaninoff that hard and long gave me quite a well developed technique, if i can master la campanella then there is literally nothing that is too hard for me to play, liszt composed the most difficult piano pieces ever written and la campanella is one of them. when i dont work i practice it 3-5 hours a day. only thing that is tricky at the moment is 3-4 note trills on the same note so it needs to sound like a bullet and each finger has to clear the note before the next one hits otherwise it doesnt register.
i looked up the difficulty level and it said
Difficulty Level: Asian

thought this was funny as well lol

Hey guys, I got around to uploading a video of me playing my first and only piano composition:
Excuse my poor playing ability, I'm not a pianist.

do it! go even higher in complexity if you can. thats what i found tough, is thinking of complex patterns to use in a composition.
but i have no melody skills yet so thats something il have to focus on, so ur definitely ahead of the game

You should start composing Sleepy, you only need to learn the rules to know how to break them...
Have you seen this program? Makes composing a lot easier than with paper and pencil sometimes.

I compose entirely by ear. Theory takes a back seat since a trained ear recognizes proper theory without the need to actively think about it. It's like improvising. You just know what sounds right and what doesn't.

I had a cousin that could read and play anything you put in front of her, it was a bit freaky sometimes. Can you do that? I need weeks of practice to even get a semi decent pace going with anything new.
I love the colour of your piano btw

I wish! My reading ability's a bit lacking, not to mention sight reading....
And thanks, I wish it was my piano. It's my roommates. I asked him if he would let me buy it since no one in his family ever plays it, but apparently it's his wife's baby.
Alas, I'll have to find my own piano...one day

I feel you on the whole 'not my piano' thing, I learnt from a young age on my parents piano, they had it for many years. One day a relative (we hardly see) rocks up to claim ownership and takes it away. The douche bag can't even play. This was after my folks having it for 20 years +.
Pianos are expensive here but shitty organs are a dime a dozen. I picked up mine for $30 delivered. As you can see it's missing a couple of octaves (4 I think) unless you want to rock it church style and use the bottom keys (I don't like to it's unnatural). No way I could play what you guys are cranking out At least it's mine I guess
Foot pedals make some great bass noises

yeah nothing can imitate that sound, not even a sample (that I've found yet) or VST sounds the same. + my organ there is no sensitivity on the keys so you're not able to play quiet / loud both hands (pedal does master). But..... it's good for playing things like this;
