Different experience with different species?

So it's that time of year here in the good old PNW.. the fungus is among us. This season I've only had the pleasure of finding an absurd amount of psilocybe cyanescems which is one of the more potent mushrooms.... I've read and heard that many people prefer cubes or libs over cyans? Does each mushroom have its own feel?

Im not sure but I have noticed that my home grown panaeolus cyanescens feels a lot better than my cubes, I think its because I eat less though. Cubensis always upset my stomach but pans have not. Other than that the trip is the same but the more potent ones are my favorites because they don't make my stomach upset and im not up all night farting. Does anyone else fart a lot from eating a lot of dry shrooms?

I don't notice a huge variety between species. It seems that set and setting are bigger factors than the species.
There does seem to be some slight differences between psilocybin and psilocin. Though psilocybin is metabolized into psilocin in the liver it still seems to have a slightly different character. This can be noticed when eating fresh and dry mushrooms of the same batch because roughly half of the psilocin is lost in the drying process.
Besides those factors, I think the presence of baeocystin and norbaeocystin can play a minor role in the unique character of a mushrooms effects. Norbaeocystin is hardly active, if at all, though some speculate it has a synergistic effect in the presence of psilocin.

Definitely.
Each shroom has its own feeling, similar to how weed strains have their own unique effects.
My favorite species are pan cyans, ps stunzii, homegrown cubes, fresh cubes and cube mycelium extractions. All have unique effects. All feel like mushrooms but have unique effects to them.
Ps cyans are nice but not my favorite, even thou they are super potent. Ps cyans feel most similar to dealer grade potent isolate cubes.

Panaeolus cyanescens are also my favorite
I always get really giddy when I find those while out on a hunt.

I isolate my cubes and the local dealer does not. In fact I had to help him with moving on from PF because he didn't understand how to grow more for less cash. His shrooms are good though but mine are better I sometimes trade him agar isolates for weed. He sucks at growing though. But even my cubes are not as good as cyans.

I remember when I was in illinois I bought shrooms from a dealer. I ate an eighth but had no where near the effect on me that ps cyanescens had on me. All you guys mentioning pan cyans are really making me jealous! I might have to grow some to try out! I know dry and wet mushrooms are really different even with the dosing being adjusted... I've heard it's because they lose psilocin while drying... I wonder how much the alkaloids in mushrooms play a part in the trip experience

Approximately 50% of psilocin is lost in the drying process.

I have noticed I get stronger visuals on fresh cyans than dried.. could be the psilocin? I wonder if psilocin and psilocybin have different effects even though psilocybin gets converted to psilocin.

I don't understand the differences since I've only tried homegrown cubes, which also kick my ass. I make tea so there's no nausea. What else is different?

I'm not totally convinced about big differences between species (allowing for potency differences), I think sometimes people get a larger dose than normal from a different species and perceive it as being different in character.
I tried commercially grown fresh cubes, commercially grown fresh pans cyans, dry pans cyans, and lots of varieties of sclerotia.
I liked the pans cyans, high potency in a tiny amount. A trip on dried kicked me harder than fresh with crazy visuals, but another time a trip on dry pans cyans was no different to the sclerotia I was usually eating.
Sclerotia can be 'less visual' at low doses but potent sclerotia can be extremely visual. If I get the dosage right there is a characteristic feel that I am basically taking the same stuff.
I accept there might be more going on than pure dosage....but it would have to account for differences in trips on the same species, which seem to vary as much as trips on different species.
