Hey so I can purchase this 50lb bag of composted cow manure for like 6$ at a local store.
Have you used this before for your grows? Pros/cons?

Awesome, thanks for the heads up. I just found a store close by that has that brand. Can I use it right out of the bag or does it need to be dried up further?

i used it out of the bag and mixed it in with coir/verm/gypsum and oven pasteurized. so i did pasteurize. i am not sure if you could use it as is and spawn directly.

Yeah definitely. I forgot to mention that I'll be following Frank's easy pasteurization tek.
And with the black kow brand, what do you mean that sometimes it's just dirt? Like they substituted the whole thing for topsoil

This is the only brand of manure that I could find at home depot, I wanted to post it to make sure it was okay to use first. Will the added humus be a problem (seems like the nitrogen content might be too high).

Yeah man I'm in the same boat, going to have to buy some composted manure and hope for the best. From what I've read, fresh field aged manure is what you want, composted manure has already been decomposed by primary decomposers (like cubensis is) so it won't have the same nutritional value.

I've had terrible luck with bagged stuff. I've tried Scott's "Manure with hummus" and "organic composted manure" (forget the brand). I've had amazing luck with fresh stuff. I just went on craigslist, searched for "manure" and found a horse farmer that would let me take as much as I wanted for free.

Yeah I might just have to do that. Collect all the fresh manure I can, then dry it out for a couple of days. It shouldn't be that hard.

You could use just coir and coffee grounds and get good if not great results. http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/10608875 . I tried this and it worked fantastic mixed with coir and coffee grounds.

That's true, but I'm working on growing some pan cyans and I hear it's mandatory for them to have a manure based substrate to fruit properly.

Yea it does work. If you live near an area where there are alot of geese it's easy too collect, 3/4 lbs did 2 monotubs for me but that was with cubes but I'd be willing to bet that as a supplement to coir and coffee it would work fine. Or even add it to bag poo.

I'm gonna use it for my pan cyans (indoor grow). Hopefully I can achieve some decent results!
