Never seen anything like it...

Habitat:
Lawn, grass, ground, etc.

Gills are orange? They are covered in the black spores.

Stem:
Really thick. A good inch and a half or almost 4 cm. It's kind of woody, not really squishy.

Cap:
Enormous and looks like it is trying to be flat but with slight bumps on the top. About 8 inches in diameter or 20 cm. Rusty Red color. Spongy, about an inch or more thick.

Spore print color:
Black, real dark brown or some really dark color.

Bruising:
Not sure.

Other information:
Didn't really smell like anything.

Welcome to the Shroomery. You've got a big fat bolete (Boletus or related genus), which probably can't be identified from your picture. Some people here have supernatural ID skills, though, so no bets. I don't see the black spores you mention in your description. Does the pore surface stain blue?

I used a napkin to get the spores. They're definitely black or dark brown. I'm not sure what you mean by pore surface. The underside?

Yes, the underside. There's a huge group of boletes that have reddish caps, yellow pores and stain blue to some extent. But I'm thinking you might have an older Boletus edulis type, where the pores can be yellow-olive with age. These all usually have brown to olive spore deposits, though.

That's probably what it is, then, if the stain is attachable to fibrous surfaces (the black stuff on my napkin). Do you know what its use is?
