Agar question

Hey everyone. I'm ready to move up to bulk and whatnot and I feel if I am going to invest in a PC I should go all out and start working with agar as well to maximize my potential. I like the simplicity of the PF tek, and I've had 100% contam free grows so far, but I never planned to do the pf tek route for long and I'm really not beat for the small yeilds anymore, I would much rather prefer to do a few grows a year, and just stash my bulk supply to have for whenever I need them. so I started reading.
Only thing I'm having a little trouble with is the agar. I totally understand the concept and how the isolating and all that works. But when I first heard about agar, I did not research it much as it was quickly apparent to me that agar was to be saved for later, as i would need to get a PC first. But as I did my little pf tek grows I always saw people saying "MS is a crapshoot" , "you never know what your gonna get with ms innoc" or something like "you usually dont get a pinset like that until you start working with agar."
Naturally I was under the impression from hearing these things that agar would definitely boost my yeilds. But so far it seems the only solid benefits from agar i can find are;
agar helps to avoid wasting time & money if you have a contaminated syringe.
can speed up colonization speed of the mycelium by isolating the strain the grows the fastest/healthiest.
You can manipulate your spores in a much more efficient manner.
I don't see much about improvement of your yields though, does agar increase your yield or not? Does it cause growth somewhat uniform across the whole substrate in relation to size/potency of each mushroom, or is that only a result of cloning a specific mushroom, not isolating strains?
Thanks guys!

just using agar wont increase your yields, you are trying to isolate a fruiting strain, doing a couple transfers from the inital spore swipe wont do much, cleaner culture but you dont usually sectors until a few transfers, just clone the earliest best looking pins, make cultures, test them and save the good ones on slants if you havent already watched the lets grow mushroom series, then please do, really helped me when starting agar, infact i havent needed to ask a single question and i have a few grows and cultures under my belt =]
