Another day another Bolbitiaceae
    #22495307 - 11/08/15 11:37 AM (8 years, 2 months ago)

Found these in the vegetable patch.

1) Conocybe (having trouble narrowing down the species, any help?)
Pileus: Conical, 25mm, Tan to Brown, Dry
Stipe: 2mm, Brown, Hollow, Brittle, Fibrous
Lamellae: Caramel Brown, Crowded.
Spore Deposit: yet to come.
Height: 70mm
Comment: Possibly two seperate species as two  pileus are zonate and one looks uniform. Stipes of both seem indistinguishable from eachother. Stipes seem to have undergone some dark bruising from being handled. Possibly at different stages of maturity?

Thanks

-Jozeh

I'd wait 12 hours for the print before assuming anything. Might be Conocybe but the pictures aren't exactly a giveaway.

Coming past genus is very probably also a job for the microscope, if you have one handy.

Very possible that the lighter uniform pileus seemed to have a stipe ring. However this did not survive extraction. Possibly some debris.

However this does point to Pholiotina rugosa/Pholiotina arrhenii.

Hopefully spore print shall yield more information.

Brown/Reddish Brown infers Pholiotina whilst a Brownish suggests Conocybe.

Spore print is too faint to distinguish between a brown and a reddish brown if there even is a difference to be seen in these specimens.
