Heya guys, I've got a 21.5 qt pressure cooker, and it takes forever (40 minutes) for me to get it up to 15 PSI will the little plug-in stove I have right now. I DONT have the option of a normal stovetop, so that is out of the question.
This is the one I have right now. Only the left side is even able to get to the 15 PSI mark at all. http://www.ebay.com/itm/DUAL-DOUBLE-ELECTRIC-COUNTERTOP-BUFFET-BURNER-HOT-PLATE-STOVE-STAINLESS-STEEL/231638169154
Anyone know of a better plug in stove or heat source I should conscider, that I can have in a place with only 120v wall sockets?

That's about the time it's going to take anyway those jars all have to hest up. Steam releases latent heat so quickly to the jars that by the time you reach 15psi you can start your time as the jars are nearly heated completely by then. It's load depending but you might be able to find a element with more BTU than the one you have

Be very careful that the PC never falls off
They say not to move them when they're at pressure. I'd hate to think what a fall might cause

Why are you trying to grow mushrooms in your hotel room?
I would think that finding a job, moving out of the ghetto, finding a nice place of your own (with a garage), would be higher on a list of priorities.

If there is any option for outdoor get a propane burner (bayou classic) 50$ ace hardware and a couple tanks for 40$
Only wall outlets though? I wanted to go that route, spent money on a few hot plates and guess what? They all took far too long. Unless you're spending hundreds you might shoot yourself in the foot. Please learn from me

Thankfully, my PC has never fallen off the burner. I look below to eyeball it, making sure its in the center before turning the stove on each time.
I've got an office that I do this is. I modify mushrooms for agriculture, and grow active shrooms for fun while I wait. Sadly, this office has neither running water, nor a stove. I built a circulating sink with 2 totes and an 800 gallon/hour water pump. For safety, the first tote (the sink) drains into the second tote (the resuvuar) where the pump is. The reason for this is that if it shorts out one day, I don't want to reenact the death of my friend's dog.
Anyways, I've been looking around, and figured something out. Induction stoves can boil water a hell of a lot faster than burners and coil top stoves, so that may be the way to go. I would shoot for that 3,800 watt one, but the reviews say it burns out in a few months. Perhaps I should go for a 1,800 watt one? Anyone have experience with these?
I can invest up to $1,300 into a great solution right now, so money isn't too much of an issue.

Great - get an AA x75 for like 8-900..
For the sake of the thread title: (still get that x75 and with the left over) get the burner and tanks I suggested plus some fire bricks to put underneath the stove. Put a box fan in the nearby window / create airflow and your rolling.

Ohhh, I do like the idea of that x75! I'll grab two of em. One now, due to there only being 1 in stock where I am buying from, and one when another gets put up.
How many quart jars can I fit in each x75? Also, how long do they take to get up to heat/pressure?

I think 16qts with the basket and 19qts without though I'm not 100%, that's pretty close. If you can, watch ebay, once I got $150 off retail for a 941 just cause a broken gauge.... Ya lucky bastard enjoy those toys.

12 quarts with basket and 16 without. The internal element takes up some space. But being able to set it up anywhere is pretty sweet. I love my 75x

Hahaha, yeah, I do like to keep my eye out for deals when I can. My first PC was an All American 21.5Q as well, and I got it for $50 off CraigsList. The guy was in the trash-out business, and came across one. He had no idea what he had on his hands.
