So is it a lie that he believes in creationism then?

Mission accomplished on their part by getting it spread around while knowing nobody will read a thing about the truth of the matter. The toothpaste never goes back in the tube and they shot it all over the place in a matter of hours.

I TOLD YOU SO
Politico rewrote the Headline/article and removed theLIES.
Mission accomplished on their part by getting it spread around while knowing nobody will read a thing about the truth of the matter. The toothpaste never goes back in the tube and they shot it all over the place in a matter of hours.

I just explained the whole story in another thread.
Carson, in his bestselling 1990 memoir "Gifted Hands" (where he had time to think about what he was writing) wrote "I was offered a full scholarship to West Point." That claim was proven false. Carson lied. He doubled down on his lie in an interview with Charlie Rose (see the 30 second mark). He wasn't backed into a corner with a question like "did you ever smoke pot?" He intentionally lied.
The Federalist article that you linked to said "Politico‘s Kyle Cheney admitted that he fabricated a negative story about Ben Carson." That's also a lie. If you read the "Editor's Note" to the story, you'll see the truth about what the author actually said.
You posted the above article like a kindeegartner being shown Santa Claus in the mall and then telling everyone "see, I TOLD you he's REAL!!!" You should try and make it a point to understand what you read before posting it, rather being a "mindless buffoon who is led around by a nose ring."

Politico reported he lied and claimed to have 'received' a full scholarship from West Point. He said he was offered admittance and declined. Admittance would be a four year military service at zero cost which is why the term scholarship was used.

If he was admitted to West Point, then I agree that could effectively count as a 'scholarship'. But he was never admitted; he never even applied. General Westmoreland had no authority to offer admittance. You have to be nominated by one of these linked personnel (such as a Congressman, Vice President, or Secretary of the Army).

Politico reported with the headline “Ben Carson admits fabricating West Point scholarship” with a subbed “Carson’s campaign on Friday conceded that a central point in his inspirational personal story did not occur as he previously described.” Both points are false. He never claimed to be admitted to west point as Politico reported him to have done. He had the top ROTC scores in the city and declined the offer for admittance to west point with his choice of school being Yale.
The original false story put out by Politico is what sparked this whole debacle which led to others reporting on these false claims. They cleaned up their story eventually, but the damage was done and they achieved what they initially set out to do. Try to damage his character.

I linked to two examples above where Ben Carson said he was offered a scholarship to West Point. He COULDN'T POSSIBLY HAVE BEEN OFFERED A SCHOLARSHIP (ACCEPTANCE) IF HE DIDN'T APPLY. No one but the people I linked to (Congress, etc) has the authority to nominate him, and Westmoreland, being a West Point graduate himself, would know that. At best, Westmoreland offered a letter of recommendation. By saying he was offered a scholarship (a lie) to West Point, Carson implied that he was accepted to West Point (he wasn't, as he never even applied).

He NEVER GOT AN OFFER TO WESTPOINT AS HE NEVER APPLIED. Again, in order to get a scholarship (to get accepted), you have to apply. I know the process extremely well as I applied to the Air Force Academy myself (same process as West Point and the Naval Academy).

The whole debacle is that he lied about getting a scholarship to West Point. That is still true, and I've linked to two stories proving he lied about that. Stop being led by a nose ring (The Federalist article) and try to understand what's really going on here.

Did you even read my posts???
First of all, I told you that Politico added an "Editor's Note" to their article clarifying things. But let's not let a red herring distract us; the issue is what Ben Carson did. Ben Carson said "I was offered a full scholarship to West Point." Even though he should have said "appointment" rather than "scholarship", I'm ok with that mistake and won't hold it against him.
However, he never got an appointment (or scholarship) to West Point, and stands by the fact that he did. That's NOT POSSIBLE if he didn't apply. Get it??? You're now stooping to burgerbrain tactics with statements like "I WIN", or "GAME OVER" without any supporting arguments.
1. Did Carson say "I was offered a full scholarship to West Point" or did he not? 2. Was he offered a full scholarship (or appointment) to West Point or was he not?
The evidence is very clear on both these points. He said he was offered a full scholarship, but he was not.
If you see contradicting evidence to either of those questions, please share it with us. But I suspect the best you can do is go back to the Politico article, which is just a red herring at this point because it's not irrelevant to whether Carson lied. The evidence I provided proves he did lie.

Everybody who goes to West Point gets a full scholarship.
There is no reason to believe he wasn't told that he could get in and that he wouldn't find a sponsor. They would have loved to have had him.

Being told he ought to be able to get in, and being accepted are two VERY different things. A lot of people are told they ought to be able to get into a good college.

Ben Carson said: "I never said I got a scholarship, I had people who said 'yes' that I could get a scholarship to West Point"
Way to change your story Ben! I linked to a video where he said "I was offered a full scholarship to West Point", and he said exactly the same in his book "Gifted Hands".
Now he's lying YET AGAIN, claiming people only told him that he "could get" a scholarship to West Point.
Then he goes on to complain about Obama getting a pass for not releasing his private academic records. "Tell me where there's equivalency there!"
He thinks lying is equivalent to not releasing private records?!?!?
Thanks for the video Shroom Detective. You've just proven beyond a doubt that Carson is both a compulsive liar, and a buffoon.

CARSON: The story is, you know, I had ascended the ranks of ROTC to become the (Civic) Executive Officer faster than anyone had ever done that before. Got a lot of attention for that. Was invited to a lot of affairs. And at, at one point was told that I could easily get a scholarship to West Point. And I indicated that, you know, I was going to pursue a career in medicine, but that I was very grateful. And that was the end of that. There was never...
O'REILLY: All right. So you weren't offered anything. And we thought -- and you, I, I don't know whether you know this or not, but there are no scholarships to West Point. It's all free tuition. You get an appointment from a Congressman or a Congresswoman, and that's how you get there. But you were never formally offered any kind of accommodation at West Point, is that correct?
CARSON: Right, I was just told that it would be very easy for me.
O'REILLY: OK, so that should have been a little clearer on page 57 of your book, correct.
CARSON: I guess you could -- it could have been more clari -- I told it as I understood it.

Meh, he was a youngster in ROTC while in either high school or college; obvious, that was a very long time ago for him, and his interests were led elsewhere (medical school). It stands to reason that at such a young age, with interests elsewhere, he would have little understanding of exactly how all worked at West Point. Quite apparent the libtard press is attempting to make a mountain out of an insignificant mole hill.
