Cold shocked a cake before casing....
    #2249222 - 01/17/04 09:00 PM (13 years, 6 months ago)

I think I screwed up bad. I live upstairs in my parents house and yesterday I did my first casing. The night before I wanted to dunk the cake before casing it as to resaturate the cake. I couldn't exactly use the refridgerator b/c my pops would freak out. So I left them in my storage room that is connected to my room. Out there the temp is anywhere from 35-45 degrees. About the same temp in a fridge except I can't see my breath. So my question is... did I cold shock my cake? And what effect would it have on my casing? Is this reversible? Thanks.

dont grow in your parents house if they dont know your doing it. They could get in alot of trouble because of you.. either tell them what your doing or dont do it

No No No. I told my pops what I was doing yo. I even told my mom. They don't care. Its just that my dad isn't too keen on having that "fungus shit" as he calls it in his fridge. Now that that is out of the way did I screw my casing up?

they bruised a bit when they came out of the jar. I know it isn't mold because there was no mold before I took it out of the jar, and I literally had to PULL it out of the jar.
