Ouch.
--------------------
I spawned some popcorn casings and had double-overlay cause I didn't put enough hydrogen peroxide in my automated aquarium mister. I only got one mushroom so I cut off the head part where the seeds fall from and put it in a jar of LC and sprayed it all over a tin of PF cakes I made with gravel, cardboard, and bisquick in my microwave. I think it will be good cause B+ is so potent. Triggered yet? Only a square would say "a cube is a cube."
No, this does not look right...

Yeah. Plastic pre sterilised plates. The plastic sleeve they were in was damaged during the sealing process. You can see it was kinda pulled apart while still at melting point

Sterility lost... You should ask for a refund if that was a new set of plates.

The kicker is I didn't pay any attention to the sleeve itself at first because I poured almost 2 sleeves that day and almost all contamed. At first I was brainstorming what could have been the problem but then I noticed just how much points of contamination there was. There was no way I could have fucked up that much. Maybe 5-8 spots all around the plate on the worst ones . I think that while handling the contaminated sleeve I infested the SAB and gloves/arms so much that even the undamaged sleeve had no chance. So far only 4 plates out of 17 seem to have no contams but they could germinate at any time so in not using them atm

Yea It was. Tbh the agar im about to throw away is much more expensive than the sleeve itself. Theres no refund for that. I will examine the seal very carefully next time though.
At least now I know why. Not knowing what went wrong infuriates and demotivates me
Edit:
Here is a pic of one of the worst contaminated plates I have. I can make out 2 types of different mycelium. Could be 3.

And this is what triggered the lightbulb effect in my brain lol. You can see inside the circle where the contam is growing under the agar. There was just no way I could have contaminated this plate in the half a second that it was empty after opening.

Wow, that's a huge loss. On the bright side, at least you know what the problem was. It definitely seems like a good idea to wait and see if anything nasty pops up. Hope it goes better next time.
