agreed, it's not random chance we have long standing symbiotic relationships with some substances.

Hebrews 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. I have always found it interesting how people that drink daily can point a finger in judgment at those that use other drugs responsibly on a daily basis.
It's like they think just because those other drugs are illegal, and the substance they like is legal, that it's OK to judge others and call them drug addict.

Yeah for sure. Especially psychedelics, which aren't addictive, and only habit forming for a select few.

I've said before, the fastest way to get ratted on for weed is to smell like it around an alcoholic.
Patlal would probably be an exception, I mean people who are alcoholics exclusively. Alcoholism runs in my family, but thankfully I just smoke weed and have no real love affair with the stuff.

Everyone on the planet has a potential diagnosis with the help of the latest DSM(diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders). It's the bible used to warrant the writing of a profitable script for just about any non-compliant small child with parents looking for answers from their family doctor. The real money is in treating the problem and using meds as a crutch rather than finding and addressing the source.
Anyone who is torrent capable can download their own copy. DSM-V
There are 15 new disorders in the latest edition. I read somewhere that cannabis withdrawal is a new one. A medical marijuana card should take care of that one. http://www.dsm5.org/Documents/changes%20from%20dsm-iv-tr%20to%20dsm-5.pdf

The DSM isn't exclusively for drug addiction, but there's conditions for everything under the sun in that book. It works well for boys who are more than what parents and teachers are willing to deal with, and for confused adults who can't figure out themselves on their own and need something to fix their problems for them. Don't get me wrong, there are legitimate disorders and people who need real help, but the book makes a diagnosis resulting in a script for anyone a slam dunk for the doc.

I'm not following your reasoning. Does that means I'm crazy too? I always wanted to go there and had hoped it wasn't too long a voyage.

if you're not following, I'm probably crazy already! though I saw one of my friends crazy, and I'm definitely not that brand of crazy at the moment.

It's all bullshit. First of all, whenever they send you to rehab, a lot of places do "Dual diagnosis," basically meaning that they have you meet with a psychiatrist, within 5 minutes or less they label you some shit you're really not so they can load you up on tranquilizers and anti-psychotics. Hence why there's such a strong correlation between mental illness and drug and alcohol abuse.
The reality is, most of these people are not actually mentally ill. You CANNOT, I repeat, CANNOT obtain a truly accurate diagnosis until somebody has been completely sober for at least 1 year. What you may perceive as mental illness, could actually be the effects of drug withdrawal, drug taper, drug rebound effect, etc.
Example: I was labeled "schizophrenic" when I started having visual and auditory hallucinating from a 6-month meth binge. This does not actually make me schizophrenic, this was clearly the effects of drugs making it appear as if I was mentally ill.
I've been accused of "being manic" when in reality it's always been when I was just withdrawing from benzo's or opiates.

War-torn places are definitely full of substance abuse and addiction. I guess you assume that people who are tramuatized by war are just too busy to go around maintaining a habit, but like addiction war is not a constant activity it is a sporadic and unpredictable mixture of waiting around wondering what's to happen next, trying to meet your survival needs, and very short bursts of intense anxiety, fear, and tension.
If anything addiction slips into war like a hand into a glove. People who come out of a war who aren't primed for addiction are the exception.

lol I highly doubt that. Plus, killing in itself can be classified as an addiction for some.
Theres a lot of factors in the theory that experience causes that addict mentality. That's why you'll see em in all parts of the social hierarchy. The people you surround yourself with is one of those factors.
