Help IDing TN Shrooms Nov 2015
    #22488048 - 11/06/15 08:09 PM (8 years, 2 months ago)

Hi guys,
This is my first post so I'll try to be brief but thorough. I went hunting in a nearby pasture in the rain this morning. Came upon a patch of shrooms that look like cubensis to me but by the time I got them home and rinsed the cow shit off only one specimin was whole. I've never hunted before so I'm looking to know if I can be confident in my cubensis identification. And also know if all my shrooms are in good enough shape to dry and eat. Thanks for any and all help!

Habitat: Nashville TN, in a cow pasture under a stand of trees, growing  in mud/manure near the grass-line.

Gills: some already dark like they had dropped spores. Best specimin initially pinkish but turned dark brown/black as it spored.

Stem: white/tan/grey/brown. About an inch or so long. Btw 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Solid, firm.

Cap: Best specimen is an inch to inch1/2 in diameter. grey/white. Appears concave.

Spore print color:
Dark, black

Bruising:
N/a

Other information:
Standard shroomy scent. Like mushrooms you might cook with.

Thanks guys, after looking up the Agaricus I'm pretty confident you are right. Bummer they aren't the cubes I had hoped for but still awesome to find edible mushies on my first trip! Thanks again for taking the time!
