My petris came in the mail a day early though, so I may attempt to pour a few when I establish a new SAB.

It's a relative's cat, and she babies it and refuses to let it go outside. Her last kitty used to all the time, until some dogs that were walking down the street one day practically tore the poor fella in two. She's been really touchy about her pets ever since.

I personally value the time put in and appreciate the work I am doing.
Why take the chance to inoculate anything in open air? Or do any "clean" work?....
Just can't see adding more of a chance to contaminate and mess up a grow.
If one stays involved with the hobby for any length of time they will soon realize that taking shortcuts, being impatient or generally lazy in this hobby doesn't work out so well the majority of the time.

The problem is that the poly was sitting out in open air. If it was covered in foil, the spore load on it would be extremely low to non-existant. Since the foil was taken off, spores/bacteria having been falling on it for some time.
You can't really swab poly with alcohol and you can't put a red hot needle through it like you can with a SHIP.
That's the problem. Even so, I expect whatever lodges on the side of the needle as it goes through probably won't be an issue, only something cought in the tip and washed into the plate by the liquid. It doesn't sound that likely to me though.

I spawned some popcorn casings and had double-overlay cause I didn't put enough hydrogen peroxide in my automated aquarium mister. I only got one mushroom so I cut off the head part where the seeds fall from and put it in a jar of LC and sprayed it all over a tin of PF cakes I made with gravel, cardboard, and bisquick in my microwave. I think it will be good cause B+ is so potent. Triggered yet? Only a square would say "a cube is a cube."
No, this does not look right...

Well... no shit. He was asking if he could do it without a SAB or not

Is it normal for spores to show signs of life on agar in under 24 hours?

Depends on species. That mold you have there can certainly germinate in a day.

Yeah, never mind; It looks like a little drop of bacteria. Hopefully some mycelium escapes so I can get a clean culture for once.

It's a tangled disorganized growth pattern. That's usually a growth pattern mold takes. Cubes grow linear. Your pics are terrible so it's hard to see exactly what's happening but personally I would not even transfer something that looked like that.

Only that gross moist dot is spores/bacteria, the rest is polyfill; Sorry for the shitty picture. It's a weird angle to try to capture.

Are you looking at the polyfil in the lid?
the small drop looks like bacteria to me.
edit: Are you taking pics from underneath the plate Yamoon?

Lol that's hilarious even with the thread title I didn't get that it was poly
With the spores swimming in bacteria they will be damn hard to clean up even if they manage to germ. Start over.

Should I apply a drop of spores to a q-tip and then brush that to a clean agar tray? I mean, if the bacteria came from the spore syringe, will it make a huge difference? I should have gotten anti-bacterial agar.. they don't have it on eBay though
