Inoculation through polyfill

If the polyfill has been exposed to open air because I foolishly removed the foil a bit early, is it just going to dirty the sterile needle as it passes through the polyfill and ruin my agar plate?

Why inject threw the polyfill at all? Just open up the plate in your SAB and drop some spore solution in the center of the dish with a flame-sterilized needle. You only need a single drop, too much will just flood the plate, and growth will be delayed until it all evaporates.

Ah, well, my cat damaged the SAB earlier this morning, and I haven't gotten around to fixing it yet. Even if I do fix it, I have to modify it so I have a slot on the side that can be opened to allow larger agar dishes in.

Yes it will dirty it a bit, but I think you have a pretty good chance of success anyway. You have an agar dish so big it won't fit through your arm hole?
Please explain this cat incident further.
--------------------
I spawned some popcorn casings and had double-overlay cause I didn't put enough hydrogen peroxide in my automated aquarium mister. I only got one mushroom so I cut off the head part where the seeds fall from and put it in a jar of LC and sprayed it all over a tin of PF cakes I made with gravel, cardboard, and bisquick in my microwave. I think it will be good cause B+ is so potent. Triggered yet? Only a square would say "a cube is a cube."
No, this does not look right...

Yeah, it was the only container that I could find that I wasn't going to get yelled at over modifying that was also heat resistant, so I did what I had to. Should give the mycelium plenty of room to develop.

I think I'm going to modify one of those transparent square bags that the mattress came in and attempt to use that as a still air bag.
Still doesn't answer the main question though. I guess it's going to be trial and error type situation.

There's a pretty good chance that it COULD Fuck up your plate...this round I would just open the lid and drop spores in...if you are unsure about it, why risk it? And if your needle is too hot when you stick it into your poly, it could potentially melt a small cylinder right through it that could compromise its integrity as a filter.

Well, took late I suppose; Am hoping for the best. Just applied a single drop to the agar.

There does appear to be a bit of humidity in the container however, is that going to be a problem?

Lol I dunno what people are talking about, the polyfil that was exposed was on a lid right?
People inoc through polyfil on grain jars all the time
edit: a little bit of condensation is fine.
edit edit: that seems like a lot of condensation. why are you making your plates so big?

- Cats need dicipline
- boxes are cheap, get a new one
- mist the cat in the face with water when it jumps on your stuff
- give it some catnip to keep it busy

Open air has floating contaminates that can land on your syringe or polyfill prior/during inoculation. Dunno how the hell I'm going to get this water out without a SAB and sterile paper towels or something.
