San Agustín Etla is just above the city of Oaxaca. It's a mixed oak-pine forest that starts at 1800 meters and goes up to 3100 meters elevation. I went there the other day with a car full of biologists to see what kind of mushrooms were in the area.

Psathyrella candolleana group
Keys out to Psathyrella jalapensis, however this species has a shorter stem and thicker stipe than described in AH Smith. Spores 7 - 9 x 4.2 - 4.8 µm.

Cheilocystidia 400x, crush mount stained with phloxine

Spores 1000x

Isaria farinosa
On a bug in an old log. Just this part was visible:

The whole thing

Spores 1000x

Trichia decipiens

This last photo has some Henningsomyces at the bottom.

Henningsomyces
With two Trichia fruit bodies on the left for scale

Crepidotus applanatus
Or something like that, the spores are 1 µm larger than described for this species.

Spores and gill edge 1000x

Helvella lacunosa group
Undescribed. Photo taken in full sunlight as the source and a shadow in the background.

Amanita chlorinosma
Odor of bleach

Spores amyloid, 400x

Antianthe expansa (Keeled Tree Hopper)

Bouvardia ternifolia (Firecrackerbush)

Anadenobolus

Gomphocarpus physocarpus (Balloonplant)

Taxodium mucronatum (Montezuma Cypress - Árbol del Tule)

Nice finds! I've been wondering what the distinguishing features are for Isaria farinosa? I found some Isaria in Maine and I have a specimen but I haven't been able to found a key for Isaria. Also, aren't the structures in the picture conidia?

I think it's the spore shape, in Isaria farinosa at least some of the spores are curved. In this last collection the spores were more variable than I usually see.

Cool. Thanks Alan! I'll check mine out under the microscope sometime soon then. Also, I didn't realize the term "spore" also applied to conidia. Sorry about that.

Conidia or chlamydospores is more correct.
